Very interesting indeed! Never noticed that purple fringing on other images from M11 with this lens posted online.
On full size photo I can't see that purpling but it's very noticeable on crops. I have a bad habit of pixel-peeping and am really considering now is this lens for me.. Normally, of course I wouldn't be looking at photos on 100% zoom, but it is enough for me to even *know* the fringing is there.
But yet again, I'm in love in that overall rendering, it's just so creamy and dream-like. Maybe I'll just place an order and see how my copy performs and hope for the best?!...Show more →
To be fair, many f/2 and wider lenses will have purple fringing in high contrast, backlit scenes like this. Even APO lenses can suffer in these conditions. The M11 resolution is also unforgiving when it comes to purple fringing.

Btw, have you tried removing the built-in UV filter if that makes any difference in regards to purple fringing?
Mine is removed, and I’m using a Leica UV as a protective filter in its place. I can try with/without the Leica UV next time I shoot it, but I doubt it will make any difference.

SPII on M11 vs M11M again at f/2, this time closer to MFD where there is almost no glow on either.
Thanks for the comparison. I've seen that purple fringing and it's similar to the one from the Noctilux 50mm f1 and CV 50/1.1 Nokton lenses. I've seen more glow at mid and long distance as well.

It should not make any difference since it's axial CA.

It just serves to remind me how poor C1's Purple Fringing tool is.
With LR's AI-based masking, it's tempting to move back.
Not a lens question, but I have the Light Lens Lab 35mm Viewfinder "WEISU". I love the tiny size but it's impossible to se the full frame with glasses without moving the head around.
Does anyone have a "hack" or solution, or do I just have to accept the viewfinder for what it is?
A little hour with the Panchro, I tend to like it more these days than the Heliar for the sole fact that it has a glow at f2 where the Heliar looses it. Maybe at Winter time the Heliar will shine more.
I finally made my decision and placed an order on Speed Panchro
Toughest thing was to decide between black paint with brassing or chrome silver Ended up with black paint with brassing - will look great on silver M in my opinion.

Congratulations on your new lens! I also have the BP version with brassing, and it looks stunning. The brassing is quite subtle and, in my opinion, adds a unique and special appearance to it.
"In the past 12 months I have been trying to provide information to potential buyers LLL lens buyers. Since I have not been able to get any updates, I can no longer be the liaison for LLL. At that point, I am no longer confident that Light Lens Lab (LLL) lenses out of China will be able to deliver on their promised lenses. I have attempted on multiple occasions to contact them and get updates on their progress and I was unsuccessful. If you have placed a monetary order with LLL, I would strongly suggest you ask for a refund or cancel the order."
