Hey guys.
It's been about six months since my last confession.
I just got a Greentoe offer accepted for the Samyang 85mm 1.4 at 550$.
And I have a counter-offer of 698$ sitting there for the Sony 35mm 1.8. Wondering if I should accept it, or wait for a better deal/sale (if one will ever come).
I have strongly considered getting the Sigma 35mm 1.4, but the thought of a 750g+ lens for a casual grab-n-go is not too appealing.
If i end up accepting the offer on the 35mm 1.8, then the 55mm would end up going on backup duty (after being the only lens used for the last 2 years).

That Samyang is killer. Hope you get a good copy and it is not one that has been returned for whatever reason. I worry about that with greentoe sometimes.
If you like the 55/1.8 output I’m sure you will like 35/1.8FE as well. I feel like resale value has been a bit telling with this lens - harder to sell for some people and the price is low because the perception is that it was a bit overpriced to begin with. You could probably pick up a nice used copy for a reasonable deal. But if you want to buy new my guess is that you could wait until November and maybe get an extra $50 off. Up to you if the opportunity it’s cost is worth it. For me I bought it new and don’t regret it because instead of waiting I’ve had the opportunity to take tons of pictures with it during that time.

Thanks man.
Yeah, hopefully I'll get a good copy. For the most part, as long as it's sharp and nothing obviously wrong with it, it will probably be good enough for me. I'm not very good at the whole de-centering testing of flipping the camera around and checking corners and whatnot.
And with the 55 and 35, I do like the output from the 55, and I feel like I'll be happy with the 35. I almost never look too closely at the bokeh on the pictures of my family, since the person is the center of my attention.
It's only when I'm looking at pictures online, and I don't really know the person, then I start looking around, getting all curious about bokeh and purple fringing and whatnot.
Thanks Dave, nice shots. Interesting treatment on the man with the pants, a nice film look. This reminds me that I have forgotten to post in this thread for a while. Some more recent photos below.

Well...hello from here. Nice shot! Have you visited? Wonderful mall, especially the 'food court' basement that looks like a night market.
No, I have not been inside that mall just stayed in the hotel opposite, if I know there is a "night market" I would have paid a visit.

Thought I'd give this lens a bump. It's not a bad little landscape lens. Little 3 shoot pano from this morning. Unfortunately when you squeeze a 70mp file down to less than 1.4mp it is not going to look very good I still want Sigma or Someone to make a new smaller 35 1.4mm but this one is holding it's own for now.
