I have ordered this lens already and will receive it either this Saturday or next week on Monday. It would be fun to see pictures from this lens. Please post yours.

Finally got a chance to play with this lens. These are not the most interesting subjects/pictures, but, I love it so far.

p.1 #3 · Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Images Thread

I posted some pictures with the lens already in the other thread announcing the SLE35F18F lens, but here are some of the same with new pics mixed in. Sorry in advance that I had the lens for only a few days and it will be a while before I can contribute again when it is in stock where I live (living abroad).

This lens, despite its bokeh and CA flaws, is a buy for me. In short, it is like carrying the 55/1.8 with a 35mm FOV. My favorite characteristics of the lens have to be the very fast AF, sharpness, and excellent background separation from subjects closer to the camera. All of this on a lightweight lens that is a joy to carry around.

Some pictures for technical analysis. I believe most are unedited, SOOC minus one or two from the night walk:

As an aside, should I be posting the image in full resolution? They come off looking not as sharp for some reason when I post in a more limited size. I think you're better off clicking on the image and then scrolling through the album to get a better feel for the overall look of the pictures.

We’re all aware of the phenomenon, I think it’s best to post at the size you already did, and let the inquisitive viewer to click on the links if he wants to pixel peep at full size.

Stopping down the lens might help. Most of the frame is fuzzy.

What I mean is prior to upload to Flickr, the images are quite sharp. It seems only in the conversion to display on the forum do we see it look not as sharp as it could be.

Example, look at the cat picture above. Then try the link below and let me know if they are equally out of focus.

The plane of focus is on the edge of the ladder/shelf and more than half of the cat’s face is outside the circle of confusion. Try stopping down.

I am editing this post because I feel like I will otherwise derail the thread with conversation about image posting protocol, rather than focus on the images from the lens. I think I already received an appropriate answer from vdo1, so I am satisfied. Thank you.

Second edit - See my post here for the 'fix' I found to this issue, for reference:

The images I liked best from my brief encounter with the lens:

(Edited to update resolution quality. The resolution fix didn't work for portrait orientation unfortunately as it flipped images sideways so I had to remove those.)

Received the lens last week. So far I love the size and it’s sharp.

Depends on the viewer I guess. For me it works “as is”, with the shelf as the anchor and the cat the moving subject that is cautiously showing up out of the shelf. If you focus squarely on the cat, the suggestion of movement is lost.

Well I actually took the plunge and bought the lens today. The Sony store here in Bangkok got all of their stock on Saturday, but I purchased their last unit. Sold out in three days. I wonder if there is varying demand by locale.

In any case, two from today, and I'll happily take all of the critique you care to dish out:
