So I traded my Tamron 28-75 for this lens and finally got an opportunity to take it for a walk and try it out this morning. It's a head purchase rather than heart - I'm pretty wedded to my CV lenses and the zoom for me is for times when it's convenient. Nothing wrong with the Tamron in that sense but greater range seemed to fit my purpose better.

Definitely prefer it in the hand over the Tamron and am pleased with the images to the extent that I'm wondering if the 'minivan' might get a lot of airtime.
