Thanks, Robert. This "stick" is about 10-12 ft off my back patio and put there specifically for woodpeckers. I bait the back with bark butter to bring them to it.

I recently got the lens and had trouble figuring out how to focus and hold it steady for awhile. These are a couple recent photos I was able to get. The moon is shot with a 1.4x TC as well.

I was photographing something else this morning when all of the sudden a flock of geese took off from the lake. I didn't have time to increase the 1/500 SS. The morning light and the foliage reflection were beautiful.

The Hejnar weighs 4.2 ounces vs. 4.6 for the Wimberly via my Postal digital scale.
The big difference is the Hejnar looses the wedge, and is a touch longer. For me this gives a bit more real estate when I have a monopod/gimbal AND the Kirk Security Strap attached.
There is imperceptible (if any) difference in the depth/gap between the foot and the lens barrel....therefore no penalty in added height and not any more room for a gloved hand.
Installation is same. One big screw. One side security screw.
If you have the Wimberly no need to change to the Hejnar unless that 'wedge' of real estate matter. There is also (subjective) to me an ease in gripping/carrying when my thumb is wrapped around the back corner of the Hejnar foot.

I ordered one too. Should arrive in a few days. I had purchased the Kirk foot and the release latch is sharp when you carry so it makes using the foot as a handle uncomfortable.
