I can only answer about the ones I have on hand and the Z6-Megadap combo is better than the A7rII. A7III maybe is about the same or slightly better but mine needs to be fixed.
No doubt an A9/A9II or better an A1 is better suited for this zoom than what I have now.
Frankly, I was already a bit astonished as to how well the kitzoom 28-70 did on the Z6. If one does not need fast AF, this combo may be better than Sony cams because the optical requirements are slightly less stringent (420nm cut off for the Nikon vs 410nm cut off for the Sony) and I believe the IBIS of even the first gen Nikon is better than that of the A7III. I have a spare Z6 sensor that allowed me to measure the cut filter and examine the IBIS construction. So, this zoom is better color corrected on a Z6 than a Sony A7III.
I also use this zoom on my monochrome converted cameras ( even a NEX-5N converted to monochrome). None have active PDAF elements. Only CDAF.
If Sony body prices come down in the EU, I may buy one of the A9s or the A1 to go with this lens. A baby Z9, if it shows up quickly, could make me consider switching to Nikon altogether.

How does the cut-off frequency impact color correction? And how do you measure that? Maybe a link?

For a lens with a given correction, capturing a narrower spectral range would make it look like a better corrected lens. That is the essence of that. I did note the very narrow difference. It is subtle but real.
