Dude who flew by too fast and surprised me. I've gone back to the spot multiple times since then but haven't seen him since.
Was pleasantly surprised that the a1 mostly locked on, despite the lack of contrast between the bird and all the earthy brown around.

Here is the other one I posted a few days ago of the same gentleman. I was driving down a country road in Illinois when this guy flew by. I hastily swung the camera/lens out the window and tracked him as best as I could. Beautiful hawk.

Many thanks, Maxxus46. It was more of a luck shot than anything, I was photographing the sandhill cranes in one direction and I just happened to turn around and noticed the scene with the dust and all. Glad you like the image, it's one of my favorites from the trip.
Looks like your attempt at embedding failed, or at least I am seeing a broken link. What usually works nicely is using the export button in flickr, choose the highest resolution and then extract the xxx.jpg link hidden in there. Like so:
