Went back to check out the Black Skimmers who were very inactive on previous visit. This time they were a lot more cooperative and also picked up a few shots of other local inhabitants.

I was at this lake for the Ospreys when I saw the sun breaking through the clouds to shine only on one spot, I thought it looked really cool so I quickly grabbed a few shots for a pano stitch since I was at 280mm at the widest focal length.
Nice shot...word of caution, know where the parents are. I have been smacked on the back of the head twice by protective parents. It really hurts when they knuckle you.

Yup, know all about it.
I have a friend that had his glasses on the top of his head while photographing owlets,
one of the adults grabbed them off his head and flew off with them.
He had some deep scratches/cuts on the top of his head.
We did see one adult about 10 feet from where these three were, but couldn't find the other.
Under the nest, it looked like a horror film with all the bones lying there.
I wish I could have found these owlets earlier. The area that they're in has a lot of open areas for them to sit.

This is the mother of 3 chicks of a different peregrine falcon family. The feather colors of this family are more brownish than grayish relative to those of the family I have been following more closely. Their nests are approximately 10 miles or so separated from each other. This was captured last year...

Took the 200-600 out for its first run today in the kayak. I hated this thing on the a7R IV, on the a1 it seems to work much better. Light was an issue much of the day, but when the sun finally came out this lens started performing very well.
