Here are 2 images out of a sequence when the male peregrine falcon came back from a successful hunt. He landed on the ledge near the nest and the male immediately flew to him to grab the kill to feed the little chicks in the nest. I posted the entire sequence in the Nature and Wildlife forum here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1674066.

A cormorant from this morning. I have some issues focusing this kind of birds. Hmm, any other bird is perfectly focused even flying cormorants, but any close up of static cormorants seems to fool my A7 III and A7 RIII focusing system, resulting in somewhat trepidated pics along the neck's feathers. I'll have to investigate.

I'm thinking of getting the a7 IV, and I want to use the 200-600 with the 1.4 tc.
Stuff around here isn't close, and I need reach.
I've read through the threads about some of the focus issues with the 200-600, and I'm willing to try it out.
But I haven't seen much about folks using a tc with that combo.
Any info would be appreciated.
I do have the a7RIII that I sometimes use the 200-600 on, but with the tc, it does that focus breathing thing.
If the a7R IV does that, it's a no go.

Dave on the Riv+200600 program you trash button for APS-C mode; you'll have the 1.4 effectively without loosing a stop. Well that's what I do. You're going to love the AF-C tracking on the Riv. Not a9 level but really really good.

I dont know if the A7R4+200-600+1.4x TC combo has the focus breathing thing or not, I used this combo quite a bit recently for bald eagles, even in cropped mode in the R4, then cropped more in post. I have an A9 as well but sometimes the resolution of the R4 comes in handy. I have not done meaningful comparisons how much the af is slowed down by the TC, probably a bit. If you are interested, you can see the two Conowingo bald eagle albums in my flickr, the EXIF dada are there, you will see many many pictures were taken with the A7R4+200-600+1.4 TC combo. I am no expert like some others but sometimes I need the reach.

Well got one of these machines now, sony a9 11 and 200-600mm, my experiences so far are mixed as it has to be said that it is sunny weather gear, F/6.3 turns an F/4 ISO 3200 to 8000 which means you need to get close to the subject for detail, hence people chasing after reach with the A7R4.
Here's a grouse these things shift:-

I am in that same boat Dave! This virus has kept Douglas, krdk888, and I from meeting up and he allowing me the opportunity to sample this amazing combo!
