Thank you, Laslo. Yesterday was pretty much like Monday, very quiet until 10:30. I messed up the best opportunity of the whole morning. I was using the A7RIV+200-600+1.4 TC+ crop mode to shoot the cormorants, forgot to turn the crop mode off, an eagle was approaching from a good angle to snatch a fish, all my shots were either clipped or too near the edge of the frame. Had I used full frame mode, I might have been able to salvage some of them. I used real time tracking L, so the camera was still tracking the eagle in these parts of the frame. I need to improve my own tracking skill, but the delay in EYF might have something to do with it too.

One can never have too much reach in Conowingo, these shots were 1260mm equivalent (600mm+1.4TC+crop mode), I would still need to crop a good chuck of the frame to have a decent image even if they were not clipped. And this eagle was considered fairly close to the shoreline.

Rumor has it that the park may get locked down again next week.I may go on Tuesday again if it opens.

I have been using tracking zone and tracking flexible spot for the flying shots and they work well as long as the bird can be kept in the frame. My problem is initially finding the bird in the viewfinder. Crowds vary each weekday. Tuesday was not that crowded, but Thursday the lot was filled from end to end. I’m seriously considering renting the 600 f4 either in December or next spring, for several weeks.

Nice. The Hawfinch is found in Europe, but not the US. If I ever get the chance to travel again, maybe I could see one. Cool looking bird.

A couple more Reddish from different days. I don't want to spam the thread with too many but they are photogenic in action.

The wait:

Sony ILCE-9
ƒ/6.3 459.0 mm 1/3200 250

The chase:

Sony ILCE-9
ƒ/7.1 404.0 mm 1/3200 320

The grab:

Sony ILCE-9
ƒ/6.3 433.0 mm 1/3200 800

Lunch:

Sony ILCE-9
ƒ/8.0 600.0 mm 1/3200 640

The images don't look as sharp on here as on Flickr.
