So it’s asking a lot but... half meter is close to the .63m so follows its decent performance. Think you could repeat on a natural object at say 1000’ and see how performance varies?
I thought of the same issue, but it was raining all day here so stayed indoors. I will try a long distance test tomorrow. Hopefully there will be better weather.

Thanks. Be happy to help if I had overlapping focal lengths. Maybe will try the same with TZE and Dumb adapter a slow speeds with the 21 or 12 and see what results I get.

Alright I redid the analysis I presented above with the CV 50 f/1.2 and comparing it with the TZE a dumb adapter, and to the Nikon 50 f/1.8S only this time I tested at infinity. The results are much the same at infinity as the close up tests I did yesterday.
CV 50 f/1.2 on dumb adapter IBIS off: 1/25 - 2 out of 20 in focus; 1/13 - 0 out of 20 in focus; 1/6 - 0 out of 20 in focus
CV 50 f/1.2 on dumb adapter IBIS on: 1/25 - 20 out of 20 in focus; 1/13 - 15 out of 20 in focus; 1/6 - 11 out of 20 in focus
CV 50 f/1.2 on TZE with IBIS on: 1/25 - 19 out of 20 in focus; 1/13 - 15 out of 20 in focus; 1/6 - 10 out of 20 in focus
Nikon 50 f/1.8S with IBIS on: 1/25 - 19 out of 20 in focus; 1/13 - 16 out of 20 in focus; 1/6 13 out of 20 in focus
So for the CV 50 f/1.2; it looks like the TZE doesn't hurt the IBIS much if at all and at 1000 yard (which is about what I used for this test) the 3-axis IBIS of either adapter is pretty close to the 5-axis IBIS of the native lens as would be expected because 3-axis stabilization and 5-axis stabilization become almost the same things as focus distance approaches infinity.
So, things were looking up for the TZE, but then I decided to test the CV 21 f/1.4 and I got very different results.
CV 21 f/1.4 on dumb adapter IBIS on (I specified the lens as a 20mm f/1.4 lens): 1/10 - 15 out of 20 in focus; 1/5 - 12 out of 20 in focus; 1/2.5 - 4 out of 20 in focus. So IBIS with the dumb adapter certainly seems to be helping with the dumb adapter.
Then I tried the CV 21 f/1.4 on the TZE with IBIS turned on: 1/10 - 2 out of 20 in focus; 1/5 - 0 out of 20 in focus; 1/2.5 - 0 out of 20 in focus.
The TZE with IBIS on isn't doing really anything for stabilization with the CV 21 f/1.4 when shot at infinity. You really are much better off with a dumb adapter for this lens if you want stabilization. It might not even be doing much of anything when shot closer. I will try to check that later, but anyone can compare the TZE with IBIS on and off for yourself. If you do, please let us know what you find.
It really does look like wide angles won't provide IBIS with the TZE for infinity anyway. For me this isn't a big deal as I would almost always be on a tripod for such shots with IBIS off, but others might care a lot more.

Thanks Steve. Good findings and fits with the increasing trouble I see as well as you go wider. I’ll test some speeds with the 12, but it’ll be early next week probably, busy weekend. But I know I’ve had a few around 1/40-1/50 that were blurry which shouldn’t be. Guess I’ll use dumb adapter with the 12 and maybe 21 since the focus spot is t as useful at 12mm f/5.6...
Thanks again.

Thanks for the great test!
I wonder if the focal length information is simply not getting sent to the IBIS system for non-Nikon lenses, and it's just defaulting to a value around 50mm. Perhaps the TZE is mimicking a Dandelion chipped lens on the FTZ, which would probably have been the fastest/easiest thing to reverse engineer. Those have issues with IBIS as well.

As an update I just tested the CV 21 f/1.4 at close distances and the IBIS was no better. I only got 5 out of 20 in focus at even 1/10 and zero in focus out of 20 for 1/5 and 1/2.5. In contrast with a dumb adapter I got 18 out of 20 in focus at 1/10; 15 out of 20 in focus at 1/5; and 10 out of 20 in focus at 1/2.5 with a dumb adapter. It sure looks like the TZE isn't using the right focal length for this lens and the IBIS is basically not better than no IBIS at all.
This suggests that with this lens (and probably all wide angles) with the TZE you should do one of the following: 1) shut off IBIS which you should probably be doing anyway if you shoot off a tripod; 2) use a dumb adapter and set the focal length with the lens registration feature in the camera; 3) turn the TZE slightly so that you are using the electronic contacts and set the focal length with lens registration feature in the camera. That first option seems like the easy solution when you don't need image stabilization, which is pretty common with a wide angle lens. The latter two options will allow you 3-axis stabilization when it would be beneficial.
In the next few days, I will try to test what happens with the CV 110 f/2.5 with regard to effectiveness of IBIS. At this point it seems a reasonable hypothesis that the TZE uses 50mm as the focal length for all lenses, so the CV 50 f/1.2 does fine with IBIS. If this hypothesis is correct, then the CV 110 like the CV 21 f/1.4 should have better stabilization with a dumb adapter than with the TZE.

Here is the testing with the CV 110 f/2.5 APO Macro at about .6M:
With the dumb adapter and IBIS turned on: 1/60 - 18 out of 20 in focus; 1/30 - 17 out of 20 in focus; 1/15 - 14 out 20 in focus
With the TZE and IBIS turned on: 1/60 - 12 out of 20 in focus; 1/30 9 out of 20 in focus; 1/15 4 out of 20 in focus
With the dumb adapter and IBIS turned off: 1/60 - 5 out of 20 in focus; 1/30 1 out of 20 in focus; 1/15 0 out of 20 in focus
It seems that with the TZE IBIS is not as effective as with a dumb adapter, but it is better than no IBIS. The testing across the three tests seems consistent with the hypothesis that the TZE is somehow reporting a focal length close to 50mm to the camera for input for IBIS. What my testing show in summary is that the CV 50 f/1.2 IBIS seems almost identical for the dumb adapter and the TZE at both close and far distances. With the CV 21 f/1.4 IBIS works very poorly and no better than no stabilization at all with the TZE and about as one would expect with the dumb adapter for 3-axis stabilization and that is at both near and far distances. With the CV 110 f/2.5 APO macro at fairly close distances IBIS with the TZE works better than no stabilization, but not as well as a dumb adapter.

Thanks for all this Steve. Guess that would also be why with the 40 initially it didn’t bother me, and with Loxia I probably used 50 and 35 the most. I guess it’s Manual Aides and no IBIS with the TZE or IBIS and focus Mag only with a dumb adapter. Ugh...

On the bright side, the CV 50/2 APO should be just fine. And plausibly the CV 65/2, which will be a fair bit cheaper once the 50/2 arrives
I do hope the Z protocol gets fully reverse engineered and China broadly 'finds' a copy of it, but realistically that may take years if it ever happens. Ah well. The native lens lineup is coming along nicely at least.

For those that use this with a Sony 24 1.4 GM, I'm curious to know how you handle lens distortion:
Do you use in camera settings?
If you use Lightroom profiles, which ones do you use?
Thanks
I seldom correct for lens distortion in my shooting, but the Lightroom profile for the lens appears to work reasonably well. The profile allows you to adjust the amount of both vignetting and distortion corrections to apply which is nice since I suspect that it is possible for the profile to over-correct on a non-Sony body.

I just got this to connect a Contax 645 lens to it (NAM-1 and then Fringer N mount to E mount) anyone try this?
Wow, that would be stacking 3 adapters. It may well work, but even though I love the Contax 645 lenses, I am not sure that would be worth it. Let us know if it does indeed work.

Hi revaaron,
Let us know how you get on with the adapter. Like you, I'm thinking of getting the Techart just so I can use my Contax N Fringer adapte and really keen to know how it would perform. If it performs well with the NAM-1, it'll certainly do well with normal N lenses

it's 100% over kill and all... totally not needed... But my non-working set up is the Contax 645 + 45, 80, 120, a polaroid land camera, and then my nikon z6 with 1-2 lenses. Its really heavy so I was looking at lightening it. When my 50mm f/1.4 G nikkor broke, I got the idea to want the 80mm on it and then when down this adapter hole. 3 night drinking a little tequila and 3 adapters bought. I'm pretty positive the fringer and NAM-1 will work. It's the TE-01 that is the question mark. If the TE-01 doesn't work with this combo, I will probably just get a refurbed A6300 or something for my day bag and keep the nikons for concerts.

I got the TE-01 adapter today in the mail. I don't have any sony lenses... but I might go to best buy and try some on to see if it works. The NAM-1 will be here next week and the Fringer the week after that. I'm hoping it's all here by 11/19 so I can test it out on my vacation the following week.

Still hoping to hear if anyone else has a problem of their adapter not being recognized by windows. Tried with several different USB cables. In some cases, Windows doesn't acknowledge that anything is connected; other times, I get an error message that the device is not recognized by Windows. Help would be appreciated.
p.10 #20 · TZE-01 Owners Unite! Images/Evaluation Data for Techart Sony E > Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter / image picture pictu
of course the stacked adapters don't just work... I want to update the fw on the TZE-01 and the Fringer, but every link to TE's site redirects to the opening page.
Right now, when I turn on the camera, the lens focuses out, then in and then stops.
