That CV looks amazing! Might have to buy it now.

Yea, I was really annoyed my go to astro lens doesn't work on the Z7 (a Samyang 14 2.8)

Time to look at the Batis 18 2.8 or Laowa 15 2

Just a heads up, they make the Samyang 14mm 2.8 AF now in F mount. I've read reports it works with the FTZ adapter if you want to stick with that lens.

Testing out the TZE-01 with the Sony 85mm f/1.8. I found AF to be pretty good beyond about 2m. Inside 2m or near MFD especially it seemed to have trouble and just kind of sat there unless it was close to in focus to begin with. Didn't get to try it with running toddlers though. IQ looks okay, not as lively as Zeiss/Voigtlander!

Nice shots with the FE 85. I have that lens and it's a versatile all around lens, but doesn't have the "wow" factor as you mentioned.

Yea, I bought it as a place holder till the 85 S comes out but I'll probably list it soon, just doesn't get used. Good lens but others are better.

Maybe a better question is "what lens is not coming soon to F/Z mount". That you'd want to shoot.

16-35 2.8 highly corrected for astro and takes standard filters . . . .like the Sony.

If anyone has a Techart LM-EA7 AF adapter, can you please try it on the TZE-01 adapter? I tend to use my CV 15mm 4.5 M mount lens with the TAP often especially for street photography, and I'd love to use this setup on a Nikon Z6. I haven't found any information regarding these two adapters working together and it would help a lot! Thanks!

I owned both and I still preferred the Nikon 85mm 1.8G on a Commlite ENF-E1 Pro adapter mounted to a Sony body. The Nikon was sharper at both near and far distances. The Sony 85mm 1.8 FE is softer at further distances, has swirly bokeh which I didn't like, but it did handle CA better wide open. I have no doubt the upcoming 85mm 1.8 S will be the go-to 85mm for the Z.

Read several reports that it does not work. Haven't read any that it was working. Don't own it myself.

I had the AF-S G as well. It was a good lens, thought didn't compare against the Sony 85. Also wanted to try an AF lens on the TZE, as I only used manual lenses otherwise.

AF doesn't work with TZE-01 +TAP.

I use the same lens with a simple LM-Z adapter instead.

Just tried the Sony 28 f/2 on a Z7. Worked fine on all except pinpoint with the occasional autofocus hunt. Didn't try face or eye autofocus or challenge the continuous AF with moving subjects.

Edit: sorry, I meant to say 28 f/2 instead of 20.

28mm f/2 seems like an ideal walk around lens but it duplicated my iphone. Side by side shots with both the 28/Z7 and the iphoneXs, the better OOC rendering was generally on the iphone, with the exception being when I wanted background blur(bokeh).

I've recently began using Z6 + TZE + Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 and while it works, it's far from perfect under current firmware. The image quality is nice, but there are some quirks, caveats and observations:

- doesn't store focus position during turn off, instead it is reseted
- can't release shutter without a lens (or with a dumb adapter)
- mounting lenses can rarely twist over usual lock position, if you fall back to the correct position you need to restart the camera
- after you swap lenses you need to restart the camera
- first autofocus acquisition wobbles a lot
- IBIS works in video
- IBIS seems less effective than native lens in photo mode, 35mm is 50/50 sharp on 1/15 shutter speed
- camera applies distortion correction profile overcorrecting the actual distortion of lens (in my case), this is problematic because you want to leave it on for video if aswell use a native lenses
- exif lens data is not exactly the same, so no automatic Capture One profiles applies
- Zeiss 35mm/2.8 has some color shift problem on extreme edges
- my Mac couldn't discover the adapter with usb dock
- if you use AF widest area block, often focus lies behind the intended area on some other contrasty element
- sometimes autofocus lags to engage or wobbles/jitters a lot or can't lock focus at all (even on medium contrast elements)
- tracking usually is poor (unsuprisingly) and eyeAF works
- smaller AF wide area (square) seems to work better than bigger one
- sometimes changing d8 setting helps (during daylight d8 turned on improved accuracy, but during the night turning it off did the same)
- it may take a small hit on battery life

- manual focus is decent, I think better than native lens (24-70) but still Nikons distance scale is a joke
- if it happen to work without flaws, then it's really great experience

I think some of these could be addressed with firmware update, so I'm looking forward to. I love this combo size and image wise. I wish Nikon made something more portable.

Good summary. I've used the 85/1.8 on a limited basis and found similar results. All in all I found AF-C to work better than expected given some internet chatter.

How about a shot of the package? Curious how small it looks on camera?

My experience is rather positive with this lens. And it looks great on Z6 body:

Thanks, request 2: Sample Shots!

Also curious, does Lightroom report it as using the built in profile for the 35? It seems to be doing some corrections for the Voigtlander 21/1.4... but need to test more.
