I find shots taken at closer focus distances with wide apertures is the strength of this lens, in terms of "look". CA can be very heavy in some cases. It's pretty evident, even at this size, in downsized pics posted here.Same for the light fall-off, even when stopped down when uncorrected. The purple shades (and darker corners) in the wood railing of the bride are a good example.

Yes, when you move into the corners it becomes pretty obvious. Looking at the shot where I compared both lenses, I believe it is right to assume that the GM would have done better on the other pics.

It appears that even though lighting is ostensibly the same in multiple scenes, the shadows are much lighter with the GM and tones more golden. Is this a function of the glass itself or perhaps a lens profile?

The FE 35/1.8 is sharp to extreme edges of the frame from wide open.
I have not done an aperture series yet but this copy passed my centering test. LaCA seems well controlled although this lens has a "Built-in Lens Profile applied" automatically in LR. (as expected for a native lens)
Here is a crop showing the extreme corner of the frame at f/1.8:
(Many lenses struggle to get this edge performance even at f/5.6)

Here is a comparison between Sony 35/1.8 vs Sigma 45/2.8 at infinity distance. (both at f/5.6)
At this distance and aperture, the Sigma does slightly better than the Sony in resolution but I see higher contrast in the Sony crop at center.
Center: Sony 35/1.8 vs Sigma 45/2.8 (both at f/5.6) --- The Sigma 45 crop is shown slightly off center which should give an advantage in resolution to the Sony

In Capture 1 it shows a "Manufacturer Profile" available (which is probably what C1 gets from the RAW file lens data), but by default it observes my camera settings (which are "no lens corrections of any sorts"). A Capture 1 profile for the lens is not available at this time. (C1 can use either the RAW embedded profile or its own when available).

Here is how it looks in Lightroom Classic:
(there is no way to turn this off unless preventing exif from being transferred to the camera). Only lateral CA gets corrected with the automatic built-in profile.

In C1 you can turn them on or off... And they seem to work (i.e. there is a visible difference between settings on / off / sliders position).

Its a great pair and can replace a lens like Tamron 28-75 easily.
This is my plan, with the IV and its crop mode you have a very versatile 35/52/55/82mm combo in a very small package
This is close to MFD. No processing, the background was darker by itself. f 1.8.
