Yeah I remember some early discussions on the 50 1.2 thread saying that the Canon's sharper and that the Nikon was soft wide open. I either got a good copy or the one shooting it didn't shoot it right or something because the Z lens is no slouch wide open. It's honestly turning into one of my favorite street photography lenses.
Well, it could be true that Canon is sharper if one nit pick. It also may be true that you have a good copy. To me, sharpness beyond what you are showing does not practically matter at all. We can shift the focus on rendering, bokeh, transition to oof, contrast, color, handling etc. When I saw comparison between Canon and Nikon 50mm /1.2, my intentional blind test picked Nikon twice. I probably just like Nikon rendering than Canon's, but that is probably not just the lens, but overall difference between the two.
Yeah I could've gotten the Sony GM equivalent, but really like how the Nikon lens renders. This is definitely not a lens I regret buying despite the massive price difference between it and the 1.8. akul wrote:

Got me a 40mm f2 at a local shop. (They just got it in too. like it was still in the shipping box, and was the only one they got in)
So I took it up to the mountains with the full spectrum camera. Turns out the golden aspens keep their gold coloration in IR, not red like the evergreens.
Wow, you just embedded 30+ images!!!
A humble request, please post a much smaller number of your best images in each post (like < 5, for instance).
Some of us browse these threads on LTE and these will eat up the quota for the month. .
No offense meant, just a humble request.
