While my 35mm 1.4 Samyang AF is good (well for photos at least), is not very nice that every time they upload a new firmware then the next day is removed. That happened at least 3 times I noticed. Doesnt inspire confidence

The counter-lit street scenes remind me of vintage Carl Zeiss Jena lens coatings. I happen to like the effect (I still keep my slides from the era) but if you're into a more modern look you're kind of out of luck.

Put 'er on an a6xxx, you've just about got the 135/2!

Thanks for the link. I've checked some of the full size images and the Sammy 85 is no GM killer. It has more pronounced mechanical vignetting (cat-eye boked) which in some images showed a slight swirling effect at mid-distance. This is a GM's strength for sure. Other than that rendering seems smooth and pleasant and f/1.4 performance is no slouch.
We can't judge AF speed and accuracy yet but all images also have the Samyang warm cast.

Yeah, it does not seem perfect but at that price i guess nobody would expect perfection. I hope they did not have to take 20 images of the same subject to get one in focus )).
I imagine the AF speed should be great. I watch the demo video, and the new DLSM (Dual Linear Sonic Motor) only has to move one single element. That could mean that this lens will not be great outside of the optimized focus distance (hopefully that is around a full body to half a body distance).
Given the full price, I would still get it if the AF is fast and IQ is close enough to the GM. Everything else about it looks great: light, small and with weather sealing.

Reached out to a distributor I know and they mentioned May availability. I'd hoped it be a bit sooner, but they didn't get too specific so I'll hold out hope.

That's what the exif data says anyway, could be a different photographer, all our images are credited to the head of the company.

What Samyang does do well is good bokeh. I’ll probably buy this even though I have the 85 batis. If af is only so so on the yang I’ll use the batis when af is paramount
It actually looks very good based on the sample images. I think they've lifted their game with this lens and to have potentially good AF as well makes this pretty desirable. I like the styling, and if it's the right price maybe down the track I would replace my Sony 85 f/1.8, although I'm tempted by the 135 f/1.8 GM. I wonder if this Sammy turns out to be the real deal and sells well if they'll turn to a 135mm down the track?
My only small nit, only 0.11x max magnification, was hoping for a little better, another reason I like the 135 GM which does 0.25x.
I like how much lighter the Sammy is than the Sony 85 GM 820g 89.5 x 107mm vs 568g 88 x 99.5mm. Quarter of a kg is nothing to sneeze at.

I'd rather see something we don't have yet like a 28mm f1.4
