With the current firmware, how good is the Samyang 85/1.4 AF compared to the Sony 85 GM?
Which is more quite when focusing?
Does the Samyang have the solidity and build quality of the Sony GM?
I'll say Samyang is 1A and 2B.
But I'm only going on those being warmer, and Samyang lenses are usually warmer.
Maybe we need colour equalised comparisons to make us focus on rendering!

Thanks in advance, Scott
I like the Samyang 85/1.4 (560g) as a lighter alternative to the GM 85 and GM 135 lenses. The latter is almost twice as heavy.
Weight is of course not the only reason though. Auto focus is accurate (better than previous Samyang AF lenses), it's quieter than the 85/1.4 GM and it's a sharp lens wide open with pleasant rendering.
Personally I will keep both Samyang 85/1.4 and Sony 135/1.8 GM lenses as they complement each other for my needs.

Love the Samyang rendering! Its so perfect for my tastes. Also, I have luckily had zero issues with my autofocus. Lucky too as I got it used from Adorama after watching the listing for several days! Love it.

I finally got my lens! It does look super sharp, producing moire even at 1.4. I will be testing it these days (it's a pity the weather is super rainy in HK now) and post some feelings
Edit: it came with firm 3 BTW, and at least in the low light conditions I'm testing, sometimes it nails the focus in the eye, and sometimes it doesn't...

That's pretty cool! What a small world! hehe I'm in Ames (around ISU) Gotta love the crazy Iowa weather! Nonstop rain lately. That why I love that they added weather sealing to the samyang 85, IA weather is so unpredictable

Doing some tests today, the lens looks quite sharp and well centered (I'll check better later in the computer though), but the eye af is failing (by a bit, but failing) in approx 50% of the shots in continuous. In simple it looks a bit better. Version.03 of the firmware, a7III.
