So playing with lens here. Now this is before the update
I have not talked about AF speed. It something we should make clear. In AFC mode it’s actually faster to shoot if you have settings effects on. Reason being if your stopped down it focuses stopped down so the lens does not open up to focus which takes time. Now if you turn effects off it will open up to like F2 focus than stop down which takes longer. One thing of note with settings effects off you will hear and see somewhat like aperture shading let’s say as it stops down.
Don’t think any of this will change although it might be less apparent with the aperture shadow going back down if the lens firmware makes it even faster
So going to see how this firmware works in this respect. I tend to have effects on without flash and always off with flash. What would be nice in either mode it opened up to focus than close down. Now it was not mentioned In the update but like to see if they put it in and just not said anything

When I click on the download link it just takes me to the Samyang home page. If I go under support and download. I click on AF there is no listing for this lens below to download anything. Also it does not appear to accept my serial number when I type that in either.
Ok. Think I figured out the problem. At least for me I bought the Rokinon Dock because that is all that was available. If you follow the instructions it tells you to download the station Manager from the Rokinon download page. Well that manager is the Samyang one but it is version 1.1 not the version 2.1 you get from the Samyang site. Anyway finally got it to work after getting the 2.1 version. Thanks for your help. Now out to test the lens
I have the Rokinon lens station. I load the Samyang lens station software its version 2.2 and I cannot find the lens firmware anywhere. Im on a Mac and I'm pissing on the dog right now.

I think i see why they pulled it. In effects on or off it seems like its stopping down to working aperture instead of with effects off opening to wide open tp focus and stay. Hard to tell I'm in my office and really no light and its really early in the morning. Ill check it more later today after golf. Seems like it got noisier for some reason
But I can certainly say this its way faster. But we need to play with this more

Okay seems to be acting as it should but if your stoped down to like 5.6 with effects off. It focuses wide open but makes a lot of noise focusing. With settings effects on no noise because its focusing in stop down.
It seems to me they pulled it because of the noise as its pretty loud with effects off it opens up to focus. Now at 1.4 and 1.6 no noise because the lens does not have to open up to focus but starting at 1.8 it does and that's where the noise comes in when it opens to focus. Bottom line your hearing the lens open up
Please try this out folks. But its quite fast and really quite accurate even in this very low light. Im not bugged by the noise but maybe video shooters would be. So maybe they are tweaking it. I don't know as they pulled it for some reason
