Congrats.
But, you need to tell your last subject that adding a nice, red, bowtie didn't help!

Photo cross posted in the Sony FE Image Thread and taken at 10:56 AM.

Looking at a small portion of the flock of Snow Geese that had taken off. I would estimate that thousands of Snow Geese had congregated beyond the retention ponds behind our home and onto the flooded land on both sides of the creek on the other side of the retention ponds (on the one side farmers fields were flooded).
Tripod mounted 200-600mm G set to 600mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 1250, f9, 1/640 second.

Congrats Dave,
They are hard to find. My first was up in a palm tree, hidden by lots of palm fronds. Had to lay on the ground to get the shot.

Thanks.
I've been hearing about this owl for 2 years. I had finally had enough and had to go searching for it.
Friends that had photographed it tell me to look for a tree with a hole it along the river.
Every tree has a whole in it. I'm walking for hours, taking photos of the trees with holes.
Come home and ask for one of their photos with the owl in it.

So I compare shots, know that I was at the right tree at some point, then go back and try to find the tree again.
It wasn't real tough, but it would have been a lot easier to just tag along with someone.

All and all, they got me to little screech owl, and I was pretty thrilled about it.
At 61, it's kind of tough to have firsts. I managed to get two in a week with the long eared owl and the screech owl.

I haven't been doing this as long as you have, but at 71, every one is important! Someone actually tried to point out the owl for me, but he couldn't find it. Later, my friend and I looked around the same area and finally found it. It was along the boardwalk at Green Cay and I had to shoot between the bottom two railing slats to get the shot. Noisy with lots of interference, but it didn't come out too bad. One tourist stopped because he thought I had something wrong laying on the ground (heart attack?).
Here it is. Maybe no so good, but it sure looks good to me
Of course, then I saw my second just a few months later, in full sight at Ohio!

Two Laughing Gulls, yesterday. The second had a slightly lighter head. I cropped it to show the nice bill that looks like dark mahogany. Also, the red eye-ring that is not easy to see, normally.

New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Edit: correct species to Laughing Gull, from Bonaparte's Gull

That's a beauty.

I try to avoid going to the ground at all costs. That's why I was happy to get cameras with flip out screens.
