Is anyone getting satisfactory results at ISO 3200 on an A9 with a 100-400 GM without a converter? Either I am doing something wrong or the answer is its marginal at 3200. Even my stationary shots are too grainy after LR noise reduction to satisfy me I would never post one and be proud of it.
I went out to Wakodahatchee wetlands with my A9 new firmware and 100-400 GM it was overcast so I had to use ISO 3200 to shoot 5.6 to 7.1 for some DOF and even then had too slow of shutter speeds using the new tracking Lock On AF. It locked on and I thought I would get some good images but they were too grainy for my tastes.
I can only suspect that I had the AF switch on the wrong setting on the lens and the IBIS messed it up as I was shooting at 1/2000 to 1/12800th and some at 8000th of a second.

That is with an A9 and what lens? Here is about the best I have at 3200
Sony A9, Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS, 1/200 f/5.6, ISO 5000
I'm trying to use Nik Software collection (the Google free-delivered version), in particular Dfine2 plugin in that suite.
I can see a bit of background noise in your pic, but I think it can be got ridden of quite easily in Dfine2 (I am not fond of LR noise reduction at all)
