Looking at a wading Great Egret in breeding plumage and radiating circular ripples
Horizontal image turned into a Vertical, cropped and flipped; tripod mounted 100-400mm f4-f5.6 GM lens set to 145mm and A7rIII.
ISO 200, f5.0 1/500 second
Exposure corrected +0.12 Stops

Nice. How late in the season were you there?
Nice that they let photogs in early. Were the gators making their mating sounds?

Hi Kim,

I was there on Saturday, May 11 of this year. Many of the male gators were very very vocal.

Some of the wading birds were a bit more brave than I thought that they might be particularly when they were near some of the gators that may take them for lunch.

I think that's a minor understatement Dave. Nice shot though.
I was trying on same species today - not one sharp enough (that was when I could keep them in the frame) - practice, practice, practice for me

That was my second time trying for swallows, I got two shots that were close to actual focus to say that they were.
I need to try a different spot for this, I'm 20 below a bluff, with trees at the top of it. No sun hits the water til 11 o'clock.
Great time of day for some harsh light.

The islands that have the rookery are in the sun all morning.
