i have not quite put my Z6 into service just yet. so far the only thing the sort of irks me is the lack of horizon in the eyepiece view. its prevalent on the big screen which is nifty but after all the effort of going "mirrorless" its not taking all the advantage of it at this time. a good ADI in the heads up display. unless of course i'm missing something in the instructions.

Horizon view works just fine via the EVF. Just hit the "DISP" button while viewing until it appears.

Well I've taken the plunge and just ordered a Z6 with the FTZ adapter. Should have it by Wednesday.

I've been into the photography hobby for about 12 years now and this will be my first full-frame camera, to say I'm excited is an understatement. I upgraded to the D500 a couple of years ago but I really just do a lot of portraiture and landscapes, so I'm not taking advantage of what that camera is best at. I'm going to have some work to do to upgrade my lens selection but that will come in time. I'm not a professional so I have no need for two bodies, I'll be selling off my pristine D500 to help fund the Z6.

Thanks for the impressions here so far, I'll be adding mine next weekend once I get out and about with it.

I commented this somewhere else...this is very smart by Nikon, to have different setup between EVF and LCD, I love it.

I've got only one lens, so I had no choice...
Z6 with 24-70mm F4S, at 70mm, ISO6400, F4, 1/500, RAW (processed with ViewNX-i, ON1 still doesn't support Z6)
No noise reduction in post-processing, only in camera, set to Normal. How that effects RAW files, I'm not sure yet.
It's definitely not the tool for this business, but for a casual shooter, not a big deal. I would usually use 85mm F1.8 for this, I can't wait for S version of it.
AF-C was set to Dynamic-area. I's not bad, but I would rather see something like 3D tracking.
NIKON, we want 3D tracking in Z cameras!!!
I like a lot, how it preserves colors at high ISO!

Still playing around seeing what to expect with exposure latitude and recovery. The first is in horrible direct sunlight and probably still a little blown out...can't tell on my laptop. The second was in a combination of bright sun with strong shadows.
I have not really worked on them much because I don't spend much time shooting jpg but the files seem pretty workable.

Yeah, you'll like it, especially how clean the images can be. This is also my first FF camera

Tested 58mm 1.4g today.... and weather sealing. It was pouring - zero issues. The lens is a joy to use on Nikon Z.

Went to https://www.bonnethouse.org @ Fot Lauderdale. Beautiful place, sadly had to follow the guide so didn't get much time for photography. Here are among few I could get while listening to the guide...

This was my first outing after receiving camera just night before so had no time to play with it before using, But thanks to familiar Nikon menus, I could use w/o much issues. All photos with 24-70/F4

After shooting two basketball games in two days, I can say that EVF on this camera doesn't make my eye fatigued like X-T2 used to do.
In general EVF is excellent.
The other thing that I liked a lot was shutter button. I could easily decide if I wanted to take just one shot or more in continues shooting.
I played little bit on video side, during half time, and I learned for the first time, there is electronic stabilization, beside mechanical vibration control.
They work pretty good together, but electronic stabilization crops the frame a bit.
As far as I can see, I won't spend extra money for a gimbal, I originally planned to do.
Stabilization is good enough for my amateur needs, in this camera.

Looks like a cool spot. You should check out vizcaya if you’re in the Miami area as well.

Other than the continuous still photo tracking so far real world use has been very positive. With the video tracking being so highly rated I'd hope that there is the ability to improve the still side of things in the future with firmware updates.

My only complaint so far is that AF-C in poor light conditions is just... poor. Maybe it's a user error or my choice of focusing mode (AF-C, Dynamic 9) but I'm not getting as many keepers as I'd expect to get. When it nails it - the results are very usable.

70-200 2.8e. 1st shot is at 9000 iso.

I said earlier, I'm not expecting D5 and E lens performance, but I guess my perspective is influenced by my other gear.

On the plus side, as I mentioned, the high ISO performance is fantastic. I think the sensor itself produces beautiful images. That's the one thing I like about the D750, and I think this is better.
...

Thanks for sharing your invaluable experience from the trenches. My sole interest in the Z6 is image quality and AF performance in low light with moving subjects (stage). My tele lenses are set but the question mark was my D4. Based on your report, I will stand pat for now. D4 AF is previous generation but it hits the mark quickly and accurately.

Been using my Z6 / 24-70 for the past few days for work on the slopes.

Yesterday it was in a full on white out blizzard that saw the rear control knob get frozen stuck and the eye control sensor stop working due to getting filled up with snow. My gloves were too big to allow my fingers to get to the two function buttons between the grip and the lens. Other than that, battery life was good and the AF with the 24-70 did very well in low contrast lighting with lots of snow flying around, it tracked skiers going past me at 20-30MPH with mostly keepers right up to about 2-4 feet away set at 24mm.

Today it was cold, right at 0F in the morning with the highest temp on the hill at 22F. But it was clear so the camera never saw the inside of my pack. By the end of the day I had shot right at 400 images and the battery was down only one bar from full. This was with the camera out of the pack ALL DAY folks in cold weather with several upload sessions to my phone via Snapbridge.

The so called reviews all these non-photographers do is a total joke, testing cameras is not using them, just testing them with no real world outcomes. I am very happy with the Z6 and the sweet little 24-70. I have the 50mm 1.8S on pre-order and think this is a killer new platform.

Here is shot from the end of the day, not a shot my client would generally use but I like it due to the backlit snowmaking so here it is to share.

What focusing mode/settings did you use for subjects moving fast towards you?

I had it on continuous with the wide AF area setting.
