So,a $1500 lens on a $3000 camera, cropped down to a different focal length and sized down to less than half its megapixels. Hmmm ? Sounds like a different camera/lens would be better.
Why not crop in editing and maintain the mp
Not really as of course I can crop in post but for some of the work I do (event/documentary) I really find 18mp to be enough and I like to shoot with the 36mm FOV that aps-c mode give me. Indeed I would like a FF 35/1.8 lens that is reasonably sized but who knows when it will ever come and in the meantime I also have a great 24/1.4 lens as well. I'm off on a weeks holiday to the sun (getting away from the Brexit gloom) and will jut take my 2 a7rIII's with the 24GM on one and the FE55 on the other
Getting ready for a family Disney World trip in a few weeks...looking back at past trips and what I used, I'm thinking I'm going to be able to do 95% of the trip with nothing but my A7R3 & 24 GM. Lot of close-proximity shots in sometimes challenging lighting, and wanting to keep it simple with a small form-factor setup. I'm thinking the 24 will be perfect.

Is anyone going to have this in stock soon? I understand the demand is high, but it seems awfully restricted from a supply standpoint.
It's been a few months since there was any reliable stock. It makes me wonder if there was a factory re-tooling delay for a second batch.
FocusCamera sent out a restock notification on 1/22/19, but it turned out to be computer error. Since then, I've called around obsessively and the only consistent impression I received was there's no telling when we'll see these lenses hit the shelves again.
I rented the 24GM from lensrentals for a trip I recently took and was very impressed with the lens. I actually placed an order for one a few months ago at Adorama but am still waiting for one to be available. There have been a few times I wish I had this lens in my bag over the past few weeks.

I think it would be a good choice. I loved using my CV40 1.2 at Disney World, especially at night, but obviously there's the MF vs AF difference - and the focal length.

A lot of WTB posts on this lens right now...
Yep. I am actually very thankful that the lens is in high demand. I am hoping by the time it becomes available the GAS will wear off and I will be able to be a big boy and resist buying it.
For me (I'm not claiming to speak for anyone else) the 24 1.4 would be a one trick pony.... providing the combination of WA and very short DOF. That's it. My Batis 25 2 is fast enough, wide enough, and has adequate enough IQ that it is (again, for me) stupid to sell it for pennies on the dollar so I can own this new GM lens...

I tried this lens at an event last week and was surprised. I never really tried a 24mm prime and have always loved 35mm FL but I was really blown away by this lens.
I'm hoping I can save up enough to afford this but it's not cheap
Best buy had them listed as in stock this morning for delivery/in-store pick up on feb 19th. I signed up just to tell yall but now they're sold out. :/
Maybe that means other suppliers will be getting stock soon as well.
Most successful Sony lens to date? . Pretty much 4 months later and they still can't fulfill the orders. This must be a great feedback for Sony to make lens small and light and price them reasonably.
Well, I couldn't help myself and pulled the trigger on one that was on Ebay for over cost. I had two orders with Lensrentals to use the lens over the next few weeks and what I paid over cost was less than what it would have cost to rent it twice and then buy it if it became available.

Yes, agree but perhaps it also signals they priced it too low.
