The most innovative aspect of this camera is Zeiss' attempt to blur the lines between phone and camera but from a photographer's perspective. It's not a phone with a camera built in but a camera with camera phone features. Smart! LCD with controls, internal memory and no SD cards, Lightroom mobile. The latter will make sharing and uploading to desktop seamless. 35/2 Distagon is nearly perfect. 37 MP is ideal. I'm very intrigued . . .

the LCD is 4,34" and has 921.600 pixel, not too special either.
battery has 3190mAh (compared to 1240mAh from the RX1rII and 2280mAh from the A7rIII), which seems rather good.
0,7" is the size of the EVF haven't talked about magnification
I don't know how you are calculating 6,2 million, but there is no viewfinder with this kind of resolution.
1920x1080x3 = 6.2M. 1 pixel is comprised of 3 dots. The 3.69M dot EVF in the A7RIII, for example, has a total of 1.223M pixels at 1280x960 (approx).

Where are you getting 2 million dots? 1920x1080 pixels corresponds to 6.2 million dots. 2 million dots would correspond to something like 1024x768. Also, the EVF magnification is 0.74x, not 0.7x.
My bad. I too made this mistake calculating EVF resolution. Now it looks much more interesting. Unfortunately for me, the diopter correction on this camera is only 3, making that part useless for me as I need more than 3 diopters to correct my vision without glasses.

I will add that to the specs. Very significant feature!

Yeah, the insistence of the industry on using dots instead of pixels is unnecessarily confusing. This camera is very exciting to me though as it finally represents on of the promises of mirrorless to me, at least partly, which was always obnoxiously high magnification and high resolution EVFs without requiring a giant mirrorbox/pentaprism like on the big MF bodies. I can't wait until we see something like a 1.0x effective magnification EVF at this resolution, or even higher.

Edit:
re-read your information, pixels....dots, thank you for clarifying things.
Strange enough that Sony only announced 5,6m dots 240fps EVF for mass production for November 2018, so 6,2m dots is still very impressive.
Either way, 6,2 million dots, this may explain the 800g weight which is the only thing to remain not too modern, in my opinion.

Has anyone thought that the drop in resolution of the sensor from the rx1 could be because the new lens is not up to the task? Sony is designing their lenses for the future 100mpix cameras.

I think it's a cool design, and different, which I can appreciate. Price though...they have to know an RX1RII is going to compete directly with this thing, built-in Lightroom or not.
If it had fredmiranda.com built-in, I would be very impressed!

I sure hope not given the size and orientation of this camera. Plus, that would mean the death of the RX1 sonnar...
That sonnar is a Sony design

Yes, but I think that design is predicated on the lens elements being so close to the sensor in a way not possible with an ILC. Hopefully Sony keeps pumping out the rx1 series...weird it's been 3 years though and seems like the only repalcement we've heard about is the ZX1.
