A few from this mornings outing.

1) Female Fairy Wren. These guys like to flit about all over the place and in order to get a shot you need to react *fast*. The Z7 came through as well as my D850, actually better as it was lighter and quicker to maneuver.

Z7 + 500 f5.6 PF, 1/250s f/5.6 at 500.0mm iso72

2) Hornby Lighthouse, South Head, Sydney.

Z7 + 24-70 f4s, 1/160s f/8.0 at 28.0mm iso64

3) Sydney Harbour

Z7 + 24-70 f4s, 1/400s f/8.0 at 30.0mm iso80

LanceB, did you use the Z7 with your 400mm 2.8 fl? Were you able to balance it on a gimball head?

I have used the Z7 on the 400 f2.8 but I have not tired on a gimbal head.

LanceB, I don't know if touched the colours, or WB is straight from camera, but they look fantastic to my eyes.
Thanks for sharing them!

I am really loving the Z7. A couple of photos from a business trip to Paris.

Could someone please confirm if the focus indicator turns green in AF-C mode? Mine always stays in red in any AF area mode.

Thx

Thank you very much, cvrle59. Much appreciated!

These were shot RAW, converted to DNG and then post processed in Capture One Pro. So, WB etc has been adjusted. In fact, I think I went through a number of reworks to get it to what you see here! Not 100% happy with the results as I am still waiting for Capture One to get their RAW algorithms for the Z7 so they can be converted with better results.

It does NOT turn green in AF-C mode. Unfortunately.

Handheld.

There are positives and negatives for any lens/camera combo and one of the big positives of the Z7 + 500 PF is it's lightness and thus it's maneuverability which may in some instances mean getting the shot over my much heavier D850 + 400 f2.8 (+ 1.4xTCIII even), say. Not only that, this particular mornings shoot was not meant to be about birds but just to shoot some morning landscapes/streetscapes etc. I just threw the 500 PF in the bag as it is so light and wouldn't be a real burden to carry "just in case". I'm glad I did!. I would not have thrown the 400 f2.8 in for "just in case". There is no doubt that the 400 has possibly the best IQ of any Nikon lens, but it doesn't do much good if you don't take it with you!

For those that may not be aware, Michael @zhangyou has done a lot of testing with Leica M lenses as we predicted the 1.1mm sensor cover glass on the Z7 gels extremely well

This is Michael's thread in the Alternative Forum ! Thanks Michael

The more I use the 24-70 f4s, the more I love it. It is an amazing lens considering it is a "kit lens". It is sharp as almost any prime and has superb bokeh, virtually no CA and little other aberrations and distortion.

Z7 + 24-70 f4s, 1/200s f/8.0 at 70.0mm iso64. RAW, converted in Adobe RAW and finished off in Photoshop CC.

Z7 + 24-70 f4s, 1/2000s f/4.0 at 70.0mm iso64. The bokeh is excellent, IMO

Z7 + 105 f1.4, 1/6400s f/2.0 at 105.0mm iso64. The bokeh of the 105 @ f2

Has anyone heard anything new on what Nikon's plans are for a grip for the Z6/7? It was so vague in the press release and the oddball report that it will be produced but with no controls on it...just an extra battery holder? Hopefully the radio silence is an indication Nikon is rethinking that decision and will release the grip with controls.

With a combination of this thread and some of the latest online reviews, I'm starting to look into the Z7 again....not sure why, but I am
