They look great Lance. Have you done any comparisons alongside the 24-70E VR?
Cheers

Thank you very much, Leigh.
No comparisons as such, but just by looking at the results I can tell it's sharper and sharper from edge to edge and overall IQ better as well. I am a huge fan of the 24-70 f2.8E VR, very underrated and better than the reviews give it credence, but this lens is better in all respects. Yes, high praise indeed.
Things are looking good so far. I’m invested in Sony mirrorless, but I’m glad Nikon is diving in since Nikon lenses don’t adapt to Sony very well in general. If they had a Macro on the roadmap I’d really be temped.

Thanks Lance. Yes I noticed edge performance looks very good in those wide angle images. The 24-70G is my main landscape lens which performs quite well edge to edge, so the Z7 & 24-70S looks like it might be a very competent and lighter weight alternative for landscape shooters.
Folks - how is manual focusing on the Z7? Is it anything like with the Sony mirrorless bodies?
I wasn't all that bothered about Nikon mirrorless despite having always been a Nikon DSLR user but the thought of a stabilised 45mp sensor in what looks to be a cracking body is very enticing!
Focus peaking is fine, I have my focus peaking at 2. Also, I have a U3 setup for when I use a MF lens, this allows me to have the AF on button set to zoom
Or, some people just know how to generate it, I mean force it to create a big headline.
Bigger the headline, bigger the news, more clicks, more whatever....who the heck knows, what's happening in this world of confusion, called internet!

Does that indicate it may have been a software/RAW processor issue?
I am not sure. I have seen this before with other new bodies before Adobe had fully released their updated raw converters. My take is that banding/PDAF lines with MILC's is there on varying levels and a question of how far we push files. I suspect with most there is pre baked RAW processing to minimize the effects so with the next few FW updates this may but all disappear. With the Sony's there is still the star eater issue which I think increases the color noise but maybe removes the PDAF at lower EV pushed levels.
As mentioned before removing banding at extreme +EV levels is just part of the work flow with a program like Nik Dfine. Most extreme shots the banding is less of an issue rather the color/noise integrity of the image

No, because raws from dpreview's two Z7 copies demonstrate the banding even when processed with Nikon's Capture NX-D, whereas Jim's Z7 doesn't show the banding in either ACR or Capture NX-D.
