Nice heron chicks, Gary. You should have combed their hair before you took the shot.
As for Saturday, I'm ready. With the afternoon thundershowers that we've been having, we should get started as early as possible.
If nobody can come up with one, my offer of the pond still stands. The last time I was there I saw a beaver swimming but only the top of his head was exposed so no photo op. The geese will be a bother, though, always looking for handouts. I'd like to shoot some of the birds in the woods, but they always seem to be hidden in the trees- not too many bare branches.
I'm game for anything in the metro area.
Well my make up and hair person was a no show, had to deal with the natural look!!
The pond sounds good, get there early for the light and to avoid the afternoon showers. Another thought is the 'Yellow River' game ranch, the deer should be in velvet by now.
Let's combine both. We can get to the pond early to try to catch a beaver or maybe a deer and then hit the Yellow River Game Ranch. We can finish up in time for lunch and beat the afternoon heat and showers. How does that sound? Anyone else beside Gary, John and me?
Robert, I live in the Mountain Creek subdivision off of Hugh Howell Road near the Dekalb & Gwinett border. The area is called Smokerise. As for how early, we will have to get together and decide.
John, since I live right there, any time is OK with me. I start my morning runs at 6:30 anyway, to beat the summer heat. If we shoot at sunrise, there is a longshot that we can get some deer, but I wouldn't count on it. We will be lucky to get a beaver. Sunrise is at 6:30 so that is probably out of the question just for a longshot. You and Gary suggest a time and Robert, if you would like to join us, also suggest a time.
I checked the Yellow River Ranch websire and they open at 9:30. Admission is $8. We can meet at my house for the pond shoot at 7:30. Is that too early or too late?
