I'm going up to Brasstown Bald Saturday and will be coming back Sunday to catch the end in Alpharetta. Go early! it's going to be a madhouse. Maybe we could all plan on meeting up somewhere and heading over to the race together?
Hey Aaron let's arrange that, I'm in.
I liked the pictures you posted.
I want to see what I can get with my 20d and 70-200 F4 L, that'll be my challenge.
Just found out about this thread and saw your name. I never got on your side of town this week but will try to get with you soon.
Atlanta area photographers may be interested in knowing that the Atlanta Zoo has a new Exotic Birds Section. It just recently opened and all the birds may not be in yet but the exhibit is great and the birds are easy to photograph.
I'm a cyclist and ride at Stone Mountain 3 days a week with several other cyclist. We are all going to Brasstown Bald Saturday. The rest of the group will probably take P&S cameras but I will have either my MkII or 20D with me. If there is anyway possible I will also try to make the finish in Alpharetta on Sunday.
Be sure to bring along a 3301 and a 3401........not sure which one I want, but will make my choice once I have a chance to see both. I shoot at Zoo Atlanta at least once a month, looking forward to getting some shoots from the new bird exhibit.
Spoke with Aaron tonight about Sundays plans. We are meeting for lunch, 12 noon at Smokey Bones BBQ. From there we'll make our way to the finish line and the circuit course. After speaking with Aaron, I'm going to concentrate on the circuit laps. I'll try and post some directions to the restaurant tomorrow evening after I return from my soccer venue.
Gaby, thats the wrong Smoky Bones you need to go to the one near Northpoint Mall- Exit 8 off of 400, Go East to North Point parkway and make a left, it's on the corner, can't miss it.

The Tour de Georgia shoot was a incredible success! Hats off the Brian, Gaby and Aaron, a super group to shoot with anytime. For those who couldn't make it, you missed a bunch of fun and the great ladder juggling act, a special thanks to all that helped save my rig!!
For the next six weeks I'm booked on Saturdays.............BUT Sunday's are free for the most. SOoo..........any thoughts on putting another shoot together I'll leave up to the rest of the "Gang".
Thanks again guys I had a great time and truly enjoyed shooting with all.

Aaron, I see you was in that mess at Brasstown Bald too. I think I put in about 4 or 5 miles of all uphill walking with camera gear plus inadequate clothing for the weather conditions. All for about 5 minutes of shooting. Then 4 or 5 miles back to the Van. Did get a few good shots but only a couple of Lance.
Looks like all of you got some really nice shots on Sunday.
Mess...no kidding Brasstown Bald was awful. We got there early and took a shuttle up the mountain, thank goodness I don't think I would of made it with my camera gear. We were about 50 yards up past the food tent,(which was just close enough to smell it, but no way I was waiting in that line)
I think I was prepared for the cold, but was still cold, could of used a few more layers. I couldn't believe it, some people showed up in shorts and t-shirts I don't know what those people were thinking!
I think I got a lot of good shots though, except I didn't get any of Lance that day so you lucked out. Floyd Landis was right next to Lance as they came towards me, Landis was blocking him the entire time, I was so mad, 8 hours of freezing my tail off and nothing! After I went thru my shots I was pretty happy though, lots of shots of individual riders, just not any of the "man"
Somehow after the race my girlfriend and I got into the first shuttle to leave, I don't know how it happend but I wasn't going to ask any questions
