I am a newbie to this forum as well as photography. I would love to meet other photographers and hang out to get tips and pointers (even the observant kinds). When you all have your next outing I would love to come along. I will keep an eye out. Please let me know :-) thanks
Mike

Just wanted to say hello. I'm in the Smokerise area- between Tucker and Stone Mountain. Not sure if I would fit in with the group as I'm 72 but would like to join you on something like a zoo trip and get some good pointers from the pros.
Bob
Welcome!! Since I'm booked on Saturday's for the next few weeks, Sunday's would be my only weekend day to shoot.
Any suggestions?? Just pick a location and a time. I'm open for new places as well as revisiting some from the past.
........And Bob, 72 is just about right!! I have an Uncle that walked the Appalachian Trail when he was 70! Came off the trail for three weeks for the birth of his son.
Thank you Gaby and Gary, I appreciate the welcome. I just added a 300 f/4. IS and 1.4X TC to my collection. You will note I said collection and not to enhance my photographic skills. I intend to try them out at a Braves game. A local sells on Ebay and has 4 season tickets behind first base second row, dugout level. I left a phone message with him. If some of you are interested let me know. If not, I will take (drag) my wife. I was a college baseball player and loved the game and my idea of a perfect date was to take her to the Polo Grounds on a Sunday to watch the NY Giants play a doubleheader. We celebrated our 50th last September but she doesn't think that going to Turner Field is very exciting and hopes that someone else will be going.
Hi Bob and welcome to Atlanta group! I've missed out on the recent outings as well...we'll have to go ahead and schedule one again soon. When were you thinking of going to the zoo?
John, being retired, I'm quite flexible (my time, but not my opinions). The best time to go would be on a weekday but in order to have the camaraderie of a group it would probably be best to schedule it on a weekend. I believe the Atlanta group has done this fairly recently and it may be difficult to get another group together so soon afterward.
Jonathan, I assume that you mean the zoo and not the baseball game? Earlier today I just wanted to introduce myself and perhaps tag along on an outing. I really don't mean to be an organizer.
No worries in taking the lead.........got some place you want to shoot, invite the group!! This is a very informal thing and having someone or a few folks to enjoy the day with is always a plus. Most of the outings I've suggested have been more of an equipment test for myself, so having company is a treat. Allot easier than dragging the wife.
Best
Gary
PS: This holds for anyone wanting to make a day or event.
Hello All and thank you for the welcomes. If y'all head out. count me in. I just receieved my lightsphere 2 and now I'm just running around the house snapping random shots. My first outing ever with my camera gear was April 16th down at the Renaissance festival. Two weekends ago I ventured down to the bottom of Tallulah gorge. I am starting to get use to the looks people tend to give you when you walk buy with such a monster camera. I'm sure it is interesting the looks a whole group of people with monster cameras ends up getting ) I will keep an eye out to see where y'all choose.
It is kind of like the Omni-Bounce just much larger..So far it seems to work good. I have taken some pics of a teddy bear using both and the Lightsphere seems to be a more even light. I am by far a pro being I just started in photography abotu 9 months ago. I had been reading some good reviews on the forums abotu it so thought I would give it a try. Here is a link you can see a demo of it at http://digitalphotographers.net/theaters/lightspheretheater.html
Hi Aaron.
The Lightsphere II works great with flash photography. I had one in my bag in the Tour de Georgia. But there was no point to use it in those circumstances.
