Craig, peach schnapps... yechhh (nice product shot though)
Mark, note the 'Product of SA' on the bottle. This is VERY different to the stuff they sell here. And I concur, the locally available peach schnapps is uggghhh!!!. I bought a bottle years ago, thinking it would be the same as the SA version - what a horrible disappointment. Now I bring a bottle or two back with me when I visit SA.
Robert, The waterfall is at Yosemite NP (Upper and lower Yosemite falls)
I think the log cabin is one taken when you were with us in Cades Cove. First sunset is in the Serengeti, 2nd is from Ding Darling. The poinsetta with butterfly was taken at the Mara Inteprids tented camp in the Masai Mara, Kenya.
Hope you and your new wife have a great holiday season. Think about coming to the GNPA kickoff meeting in January.
Mark, Good to hear from you again. Really nice shots here. If I can make it up in the next couple of weeks I may email you to ask about conditions before I make the drive. Looks like there is large number there.
Feel free to send me an email before you come up and I will try to get you an update on conditions. Its a long way for your to come if the birds aren't cooperating (like the last time you were here). Last year the numbers of Sandhill Cranes at Hiwassee started declining after the first of the year and by February there weren't many at all. I don't know if there is more or less food for the birds this year versus last year, but I imagine that has a lot to do with their departure.
Hey guys,
I'm in Knoxville and I might be up if you all would welcome a volunteer. btw, I'll be down there the weekend of jan 16-18 as well with a photog buddy of mine.
greg
p.s. I'd like to do some skyline, city stuff while i'm down there if anyone has any ideas on where to go..... thanks
Thank you for the compliment tlong. Great elephant photo Grant.
I have been out at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge a several times in the past week including today. There are still a good number of cranes in the area but there weren't many on the ground in the immediate area of the viewing stand today although there were some good BIF opportunities.
Hey guys - haven't been around in a long time due to school and my "real" job. Just dropped in and glanced at the last couple pages of pictures - some great stuff here! Keep up the good work.
I'm unfortunately having to exit the photography field for a while due to finances (too much $ wrapped up in gear and no time to shoot while it depreciates), but wanted to let you guys know what I'm selling in case you're in the market (or know someone that is). I think this stuff is priced pretty competitively - cause I need to move it fairly quickly. Drop me a line if you have any questions!
Canon 30D w/ battery grip, 2 batteries, 2 chargers - $450 OBO. It's just over a year and a half old and is in good shape. If you want to see it (or anything here), let me know.
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L - $900 - This lens is an amazing beast. It's heavy (not a great walkaround) but it shoots some beautiful photos. In great shape, year and a half old.
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L - $900 - My favorite. Year and a half old, in great shape, and just a GREAT lens to have in the arsenal.
AlienBees B800, Collapsible Softbox (it's sweet!), Heavy duty AlienBees stand, counter-weighted boom arm, and vagabond battery unit (gen 1, plugged into trickle charger when not in use). Bought all this about 5 months ago. Used it 3-4 times. It's a SWEET setup - I just don't have a need for it if I have no gear. I'll throw in my "Ebay triggers" with this. Paid $735 for the setup (everything but the battery was new, and the battery was from a friend), will get rid of it as a bunch for $575.
Had fun shooting with you guys over the last year or so and hope to be back in the field after I graduate, make some real money, and buy two 1DS-MkIIIs, 2 5DIIs, the entire line of Canon L glass, and a humvee to drive it around in.
TN Shooter - Greg, You will be in Atlanta the weekend of both the World of Wheels Car show and the big Atlanta Boat show. Both at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Lots going on at the WOW with Atlanta Falcon Cheerleaders, Venom and Wolf from American Gladiators as well as many others. If interested google World of Wheels Atlanta for appearance times. If the weathers good and you have a clear night you might want to try some nightime skyline shota you mention but I haven't done any of these in many years so I'm not sure of a good current location. Back when I did them I shot from the overpass on Boulevard just south of Atlanta Medical Center Hospital. Not the best area to be in at night though.
Jon U. Not seeing much from you lately. You better get back to positing.
Colin. Education is much more important right now than photography. Gear definitely depreciates quickly now so your move is smart in my opinion but I would have to keep a body and one lens just to photograph occasionally. How about something like a 10D + 17-40 or 17-85 and a 430EX? Good price on the AB setup.
Sorry to hear that Colin....why partly...it is always good to hear that you are doing well...education and work and all...but hate to see you leave the hobby for a bit.
I would love to pick up that Alienbee set up...what is the payment plan?
Man Hersch....I hear you. I have been sooooooo busy. I shot a basket ball game the other day...I hope to post some of that soon....
