Hoope you all had a great weekend, fall/ winter is around the corner which means crisp clean air in all our photos I'm excited
anyway I have a question for you canon folks
If i were looking to get a portrait lens do any of you have experience with the 85 1.2 vs 1.8 ? what do you think of the two ?
It's all about tight control of DOF and bokeh. That means the 1.2 would be the weapon of choice. I have a 85 1.4 on my wishlist.
For the price, the 85 1.8 cannot be beat. It has been my favorite lens in both Canon and Nikon mounts. With that said, I just purchased the Nikon 85 1.4. I do think it has a 'special' quality to it, but I have not had a chance to use it much yet, because I bought three lenses all at the same time and the other two have gotten more of a workout so far. (How is that for a run-on sentence...I'm too lazy to fix it )
So far just the new 50mm 1.4 has been announced. Not sure when the 85 will be coming, but I'm waiting for it. I may get the 50 as well, the MTF charts look good but I'll wait to see what the tests reveal. The 50mm will be available in Nov/Dec at $440.
The old 85 f1.4 is an excellent lens - known as the 'cream machine' for its bokeh.
Just starting to go through a few pics from my Vegas trip. I ran up to the Valley of Fire state park one afternoon. I didn't really know anything about the park so I did a quick scouting trip and thought this area might be good. This is just down the road from an area called the mouse's bowl (or something like that)
I started watching the light and was about to pick out my area when the ranger drove up to remind me that the park closed at sunset and since he couldn't see the sun it must be time to go...
I waited 2+ hours to get good light and just when it started to get nice I had to leave...
Anyway, I may play with this a bit more to balance out the exposure but I thought I would stick something up just to have something to throw darts at.
