Grant, I agree. Last night before I posted them I almost reduced the contrast a bit because it it quite strong on my monitor at home. They are a bit darker as well, which worried me a bit. This morning, at work, as I was scrolling to the bottom past my pics I noticed that they look flat and washed out. This is the first time I've had such a big difference on 2 different computers.
I know what you mean about the scenery out west. I spent 6 years in Phoenix when I was young and I still miss it. Getting away from the strip was a good thing. It was nice diving around in the Nevada countryside
I haven't calibrated my monitor at home as I haven't finished sorting out the light in my office. I guess I need to go ahead and calibrate it and see if that makes a difference.
I like the drummer shot and love the green tire on the MX bike. Not sure I've seen one like that before.

Back to the drawing board to see if I can get the color under control
Last week I went to Marta lindberg on a cooler night to get some crisp shots using the 70-200, helping my friend out who's photog bailed on her she wanted to put together some kind of book for her husband on their first anniversary. I was nervous to help, but she's happy with them so I guess I can't feel to guilty. Anyway I'm going to show just a few post my new PP techniques.
Like the band shots Jon and thanks for the 50D shots Atlphoto. Jon, the last band image has an unrealistic color blue. Did you do any PP to change the tone or did the uniform really look this vibrant blue? The MkIII and 300 2.8 make a great combo. You should bring it to Road Atlanta tomorrow.
My 50D arrived today and I shot with it some this afternoon. I will try to take time to post some images later on tonight but I can tell you now that the LCD is a huge improvement. My first impression of the high ISO is that 3200 looks great 6400 is fair but 12800 would be for just getting the shot more than anything else. Will let you know more later. I will probably be selling my MkII and 40D very soon. I have kept the MkII until I was satisfied with the AF of the MkIII but haven't used it but a couple of times since. It was recently cleaned and serviced by Canon in Irvine.
went to shoot a wedding as a backup for my friend this weekend, she shoots Nikon.... she uses D200 and just bought a D300, I used the D300 and my canon Xsi. I know the xsi and D300 are not anywhere near the same level of performance, but i was blown away by the all around features of that D300, I was curious because I have never used a 40/50 or 5d if any of you have used the nikon d300 and a 40/50 or 5d. I'd like to know how they compare, I've just never seen a camera that had such dynamic range and well just made getting better photos easy.
I apologize for the large posting and hope it doesn't overwhelm your screen. I'd like this forums input as to the quality of the photos displayed. Can you tell a difference between the hosting sites? I believe picasa mutes colors please let me know....
So picasaweb has 1gb of free storage.. but i now believe they alter photos and change the way they are displayed. If i share a photo via picasa and a similar one via flickr here are the results:
