I can't believe how fast that puppy has grown! I did not know you were shooting for Pope this year. The pics look great! Must be nice having one of those high-fangled low noise cameras
I love the specs on the camera the price is great as well
the only things I wish it had that it doesn't or I would change are:
1) 5-6 FPS
2) remote flash trigger
3) dont really need that HD movie mode - would never use it
4) would've liked to see the gapless microlenses - i'm sure it will be in 1d IV
other then that its basically a 1ds III in the old 5d package sans the auto focus of the 1ds.
In your opinions, do you think this makes Canon competitive with the D700? I'm looking forward to seeing some field ISO samples
I just had lunch with another local tog....and I am now the proud owner of a very sharpe 300 2.8 IS....you can tell it was used to shoot lots of sports....but the focus and optics are rock solid....

I read the specs before reading the forums at DPR. Reading the specs I thought, wow, what a great camera. Then I popped into the forums and could not believe the negativity. I think it looks like a winner for landscapes. I'm sure Canon will have done wonders with the ISO.
I don't think the 5D-II and D700 have the same target market. Very different cameras. Both excellent for their intended purpose.
JU - a 300 f2.8 ? - what can I say ? I know you are going to get wonderful results, can't wait to see them.
Mark - an accounting seminar! - you must be having a ball
Ok so i made a nice stride forward today I believe... . I was able to learn why my ETTL II wasn't working properly - aka why I didn't know what i was doing. Even though the manuals aren't clear I figured out the XSi's synch limitation - removed it; and figured out how to FEL the flash
and got this using the 70-200 in my kitchen... obviously the flash is directly on it, but you can still hardly tell a flash was used - far better results then i've had previously.. any other ETTL mastering tips from you guys? thanks

Hi guys.
Dave...I'm afraid I can't help much with the flash...Where was that second picture taken?
I had a chance to shoot some soccer yesterday. I posted them in the Sports Corner, but I would love it if you guys would take a look and critique... https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/688612
Tracey, Thanks for trying i kNow you shoot Nikon so I think I need a canon person to explain their mastery of their speedlights. I'm just trying to figure out the fill flash photography, how to meter the two properly..
That photo is also taken in Thailand like some of my earlier posts, in bangkok along the Chao Phraya River, its called Wat Arun which means Temple of the Dawn. Incidentilly I love thailand if you have never been, you are missing out on an amazing variety of culture and scenery.
