Thanks for the advice....I think I'm going to try to stick school out...2 years seems like a very long time though. I just go through major mood swings where one minute I'm excited about it and the next I'm terrified lol. I'm sure I'll be asking for lots of help in the future...so beware!!
I'd also like to extend a hearty welcome! I like your work and look forward to seeing more. I'll also second what everyone else has said about school. This is the one time in your life when you are still relatively unencumbered with other responsibilities. That's a gift that you should take advantage of while you can. Could you learn it on your own, possibly. But having the time and structure of school greatly facilitates and hastens the process.
This would seem to be the appropriate moment to offer up my own quiet "thank-you" to each of you who have taken the time to respond to Britany's plea for advice with such thoughtful, well-considered answers.
I hope you've had a good one...........I envy you and what lies ahead in your future. With the support of your family and your strong determination I know you will accomplish great things.
Well... So how is everyone? Sorry I haven't checked in for so long! What is the current event planned? Gary, How is that 120-300 working out for you... I finally sent my 80-400 in to sigma and they send me a brand new DG version. Good times with the Lance photo above. Britany, Welcome to FM. You have found a good group of people (from whom I have met so far) Looking forward to the next time I can meet everyone.
Well I'm sure you've read we are having a outing in the Smokey's........Nov 4-6. Would really like to see you make the trip if you have the time. As far as the Sigma goes, now that I have some down time I'm going to send it in for a check up. Not that it hasn't been a really good lens, I just want to make sure it is 100% before the shooting season comes around. Looks as if Sigma did you a good service on the 80-400, I might be looking into that lens as I'll be in Africa next year and I think a zoom of that focal length will come in handy.
I hope you've been doing well..........we need to get together and do some shooting.
I wish I could join you but dag blasted college takes priority over that sorry....
Sigma, you have to stay on top of. I sent the lens in and was told I would have it back within a week.... They then told me that they would have it back within two weeks, I told them, No, I need it back in a week..... so the very next day they called and told me that it had shipped. Hopefully they will do you will with the 120-300.... Let me know if you ever want to try out the 80-400...
And as Luck has it, I may be in Africa next summer as well.... One of my friends just got back from there and he ended up using his 18-55 more than his telephoto. He had shots of elephants from a safari taken with the 18-55 @ 18 where the thing filled the whole frame. So be sure you take that 17-40 with you!
(OT) I was just thinking about how jealous I am of your Sidekick and Arcatech.
I'm new here on FM, well, been here several months but haven't been too active Glad to meet some photographers here in the ATL and would definitely love to join you guys for shoots
Welcome to the neighborhood, Xiao!....It's always good to see another friendly face come our way....And, as one recently welcomed, I can tell you that the area shoots are a wonderful experience.
Welcome to the Atlanta based photographers forum. Lots of friendly folks here. Look forward to getting a chance to meet you at one of the get togethers.
I read about the Smokey Mountain trip and was interested, but currently have schedule conflicts that weekend well, there's always the next trip! Also, I've read about a lot of people going to Zoo Atlanta, good place?
Hi, everyone. I'm back and ready to shoot. Gary, sorry I can't join the group in the smokies, but my wife will be away, as her brother is ill in NY and she is visiting him that weekend. Wouldn't go to that vacation spot without her. Can't wait to join everyone on a shoot.
Thanks, Greg. I'm still in a state of shock. I posted pics taken by my wife in Nature & Wildlife under "Pics from Chicago Marathon" a few days ago. Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Congratulations on the marathon, just remember I was with you in spirit, I wouldn't have lasted 2 miles! Sorry to hear you won't be joining us on the Smokey's trip, I'm sure we'll have a day outing before then.
