Just discovered last week that we have a pair of sacred kingfishers nesting in a tree just 20m from my house. These are a forest kingfisher and love to eat cicadas and lizards it seems based on what I've observed so far. Never thought I'd see kingfishers this close to home. Although not as colourful as say the azure kingfishers, they still have beautiful colours.

Try not to take things so personally. I just picked a random camera when I made that comment. Could have said A9, could have said 5D4....that comment wasn't a knock against the D850 or posters in that thread. That comment was an observation of viewing 1200 wide jpegs on forums....that is it.

If the 200-500 is sharp enough for the D500, it's sharp enough for the D850. Same pixel size, no AA filter in either, using 200-500 on D500 is same as using it on D850 and cropping . Where the 200-500 might be less good on the D850 is the edges and corners, and I know I couldn't care less about those regions for 99.9% of my shots even on crop.
