Hey I've got one now, even though my D500 is in perpetual repair going back and forth to Nikon since November I managed a few shots on Sunday with the obsolete D7200.

Happy about that. I have that camera and just can't get that happy with it. Couple issues drive me crazy with the D500. But the D810 is my drooling gun, been happy 3+ years with it.

Just got a hold of this lens. Looking forward to getting out with it. Been trying to use a 70-200/4 for eagles and other larger birds, which has become an exercise in frustration trying to get close enough.

New to the lens... VR is amazing, however are you guys turning VR off at higher shutter speeds? My initial backyard testing seems to show that VR helps right on up to and maybe even past 1/800, but I'm wondering about 1/1250 and beyond. What have you guys been seeing?
On my 70-200/4, I definitely seem some VR blur at higher shutter speeds.

Spring is finally here But late as ever, last year the eggs were already laid by now. This year the nest isn't even built properly yet but finally they are working on it and working on fertilization.

I've got a tug of war going on between my 200-500 and the new Tammy 150-600 G2. As much as I like the extra 100mm, the nikon is winning so far IQ wise on my D810 and D500. AF wise they're a wash if you tweak the G2 with the dock. 'Else the Nikkor is a bit snappier and holds acquisition better.

All that , Plus the Nikon is a Nikon with fixed f5.6 short to long which makes it the winner for me.
