I'm still more likely to buy a 1DX used than a 1DXii, but that's how I roll.
I think Canon is going to see a lot of it's 1DX users think that way. They pushed the standard very high with the 1DX and I'm not sure how many are going to pay out $7000+ for a small increase in IQ. Nothing on that CR list really says to me that I have to have it. A 300/2.8, 400/2.8, or 200-400 would offer a far bigger return on IQ.
Me too. I'm much more likely to buy a second 1DX to replace my 1DIV than to buy a 1DXII.
The aspects of camera performance that I seek to upgrade aren't in the realm of action photography, where the 1DX is awesome. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a 1DX-class camera with a 24+ MPX sensor, but I don't need one. I'm looking for a high MPx camera for static photography. I'd be happy with 1 fps. The 5DS/R and A7RII are heading in the right direction, but they're not there yet, for me. In the mean time, I'll stick to buying glass.
P.S. "eye focus" and I would probably not get on well togther. While focusing (even when shooting at high fps with AI Servo and active AF), I often cast my glaze around the finder to check out features in the background and/or to see what's coming into the field of focus. In most circumstances, having the focus system respond to my gaze vector would not be helpful. In the few situations that my gaze is steady in the finder, I wouldn't need ECF.
I'd like to see Canon increase the sync speed to 1/500s. If not on the 1Dx2 then on the next 5D4. I can't see a single downside of doing so and wedding and studio photographers would love it. I could see Canon limiting that feature to the 1D body though if it is possible and still maintain 12 fps.

If the 1dx2 is as much better than the 1dx as the 1dx is better than the 1d4 then I will be looking to get one asaicai- as soon as I can afford it.
It would take a pretty large upgrade to match the 1.3x crop to FF sensor upgrade.
I'm sure people have said the same thing for each new 1 series release...." no way it will have enough improvements to justify the upgrade" However, every time Canon produces something that makes us drool and the fool hearty spend the big bucks right away and become the new Beta testers (remember the 1DX recall shortly after release).
1DX was announced in late October 2011 and released April 2012 ahead of London Summer Olympics....Lets hope Canon will follow suit and announce this fall for next spring ahead of Rio Olympics....
At least for Canadian CPS member we can offset the horrible x-change rate with a CPS discount right off the bat. Also hoping Canon will bring price down to 1D series levels and not go up to 1Ds series levels.

My budget would love to see it back to $5K but I just don't see it happening especially with Canon's declining camera revenue. I think we will definitely see a year of $7000+ to recover costs. Best I can hope for is a quicker time frame for price reductions after the bragging rights crew get theirs.
$3000-$3500 1DX's are going to be hard to pass up. If Canon ever drops the refurbished ones down to that I'll be a buyer. There are some things I like about my 7D2 but I've learnt it is not a 1DX backup. The AF consistency is just not there. Too bad, I had high hopes for it.
I'm also interested in what Sony does with the A6000 successor. If they can get it to finally AF track in low light I'd be tempted to pick one up as a potential remote or a kick around camera that can do action in a pinch.
A new rumour today about the 1DX2....these specs are exactly what I want for now....especially the mention of dual C-fast and not a split of CF and C-Fast. 24MP is nice, 14FPS is nice....hopefully highISO DR improvements and high-ISO noise improvements.
AF system still unknown....and no more mentions of a hybrid EVF/OVF....unfortunately the new rumour is saying no announcement till 2016 but that probably makes sense as long as they have time to release before Rio 2016 in August.

Dual CFAST might be a deal breaker for me. A quick calculation shows about $4000 in cards, not to mention the weight of them and incompatibility with other bodies.

EBH
If it isn't Dual CFast that may be a deal breaker for me....who needs $4000 in cards...if you do then I agree, probably not for you....
