5Ds.... I'll pass. Interested to see what Sony will release now that they know the competition (or lack there of...). Too bad they couldn't be pushed more by Canon.
+1. I think there is some kind of adapter to use the Canon lenses on a Sony, too.
Whatever Sony will produce this year has been in development for a while, so it should not change based on the Canon.

In case anyone cares here is what s and r mean from CPN Europe site
The naming of the cameras follows those of previous Canon EOS models such as ‘EOS-1D/EOS-1DS’, with the ‘S’ added to indicate a high-resolution camera and meaning ‘Super’ or ‘Superior’. To help to indicate the model in which the low-pass filter has been cancelled – the EOS 5DS R – ‘R’ for Resolution was chosen in order to reflect its extra resolution ability over the EOS 5DS.

Anyway I really have nothing more to say about Canon bodies anymore. It's clearly pointless to bother. I've said it all. Ain't worth the bother.
So some will be happy to hear I won't post about Canon bodies anymore.
I'll just stick to the photo/printing/monitor threads.
Come over to the Alt forum. We have lots to post about over there.

The Canadian price for the body is pretty aggressive relative to the USA price when you factor in current exchange rates. A CAD price of $4099 corresponds to a USD price of $3300, vs the USA price of $3700.

If it it targeted at landscape then why is it apparentl 3 stops behind Nikon/Sony landscape cameras then?
It does appear they may have dropped the ball for landscape shooters but we don't know that yet. When more real world reviews and testing takes place then we'll know for sure.
We do know they did not intend this to be their flagship DSLR video camera. I honestly think you know that from the leaked specs threads you've participated in the past two days. Hopefully, the 5DIV will answer your concerns / wants / needs for the best video possible from a DSLR at the price point you want. Obviously, this is not that camera. Trust me, I'm a little let down too for my stills work but I'll wait to reserve judgement when it's warranted.

Does this mark the end of the Series 1 line?
The 1 series will become even more specialized than in the past, catering to those who need/want fastest AF response with fastest fps rate. How well it will withstand competition from others, though, remains to be seen. It will also be interesting to see if the hypothetical 5DIV will bridge the AF/fps gap any. If so, then it will push the 1D even more niche. Considering what Samsung has offered in the NX1, it may only be a few years before 'cheap' mirrorless cameras will supersede the 1D at least in terms of AF and fps capability. Lens selection will be a factor that should help Canon in the near term.

The limited iso range to 6400 is fine for my landscape shooting and leads me to believe that they biased this camera to perform better at low iso and probably have thicker CFA and better colors than 5d3 and more like my good old 1ds3.
Any mention about better weather sealing like 7d2?
Any mention about taking 3rd party OVF screens or Canon Ee-s for better manual focusing of fast lenses like my Otus 55?

I'm interested in that point too.....would really like to be able to change out focusing screens on my 5D3 without messing up metering. In this supposed landscape/studio camera I would like to think interchangeable focus screens are on the menu for fast MF glass.
