Could be awesome, but I know better than to get my hopes up. A top iso of 6400 does signal that it's going to be a different machine, that's for sure.
They are doing some good things. I'm borrowing a 7DmkII from CPS and the interface is in a different league from legacy models. Extremely well done — a pleasure to shot with. Crazy low light AF with points all over the screen (almost like an a6000). Plus the AutoISO is finally well done. You can just tell it you prefer higher shutter speeds if using the AutoISO / Av shooting combo. Rather than letting telephoto lenses get dangerously low shutter speeds it will bump them up based on your global preferences. And the Exposure Compensation now works with the M / AutoISO combo (it didn't use to). No noticeable improvement in shadow noise (DR) but the interface and AF performance are spot on.
since this is a new line of cameras from canon i'll be doing some fairly in-depth testing to see how it compares to the 5D3.. might even write a review. hoping to also see some comparisons to the d810.

I am thinking this could be a sweet wedding camera.
For bridals/engagements and wedding day portraits ... use all the 50MG.
for the rest of the time down select to M or S raws.
5fps is plenty.
Really, ISO6400 is plenty for wedding work.
1. Better dynamic range (don't know)
2. Wi-fi (no mention of it yet)
3. Tilting screen (no mention of it yet)
4. In camera radio flash trigger (no chance)
Based on those I can't see myself buying it if the specs are correct. I could maybe buy one and see use for commercial work, but I definitely wouldn't be replacing my whole lineup. If the 5D4 comes in August, it better have the first 3 things.
Tony ... One would think new sensor tech would come out on a big boy like the 5DS(R).
My guess would be the 7DmkII under-pinnings gone FF.
Possible 5DmkIV could bring better dynamic range .... keeping roughly the same sensor 24MP-ish and given pixel size.
This would allow engineers to work with known architecture (pixel size) and go after the super structure.
We will know in coming days. At least on the 5DS ....
I agree with most of this but I really can't see how ISO 6400 is enough. I shot two ceremonies this past year at f2.8, 1/160, ISO 8000. No flash allowed.

This 5ds might be cool if the sensor is different. That actually makes it interesting in a 12MP file. I believe that was the max file size on the original 5d.

Got me ... there are times when we need more ISO.
In fairness ... I would have pulled out faster lenses than f2.8.
Plus, If this camera follows same path ... there will be H1 and maybe a H2.
Also, I would run with another 2nd body .... 5DmkIII | mkIV | 1DX
The 5DmkIII needs proper exposure @ high ISO
High ISO: Kind of what many have been throwing out .... The question ....what is Canon's move with the 5DmkIV?

Ok, as a person who has been shooting Canon cameras exclusively for 15 years, here is my opinion. This camera does absolutely nothing to convince me that Canon is not still light years behind Nikon, and I would be shocked if they release something on par with Nikon at even a similar price point.
