At this point we can only go on paper-work on pre-release ..... and that is better color accuracy.

Dual Digic6 chips. New processing chips.
The Dual Digic 6 chips is what caught my eye. While it takes a lot of processing power to push out 50MP RAWs, I'm excited to see the 5D series getting the 1D treatment in regard to speed. Hopefully they keep improving AF... because more than file size, DR, or tonality, all I care about is getting the picture.
Finding some comments about the iso rather funny. We've had iso 6400 as a real possibility for what, less than 5 years? Suddenly it's impossible to shoot a wedding without higher. Cummon folks, be real. Not that this is a wedding camera unless you can tap into the 'huge enlargements that 36 megapixels wouldn't be enough for' niche scene. This is canon's first foray head to head against the medium format digital world, the camera will be designed for those kind of shooters. The 's' cameras always were. Compare noise and high iso of the 1Ds (of any generation) vs the 1D (of any generation). It will be more than wedding capable, heck we shot weddings with 5D/5DII's for enough time however I would think that there will still be better cameras for the job. Cameras at a better price point that is.
Waiting to see what that 5D IV brings. Not so much interested in more mpix, but as Tony mentions, improved sensor, wifi and tilt screen would be very appreciated (love the x-t1 which can do this). Integrated radio for flash would be great too, but I would think that an external st-e3 works faster when changing outputs instead of fiddling with on screen settings in a menu.

Based on those I can't see myself buying it if the specs are correct. I could maybe buy one and see use for commercial work, but I definitely wouldn't be replacing my whole lineup. If the 5D4 comes in August, it better have the first 3 things.
5D3 or 6D as a backup would do any low light work where greater than 6400 iso was required anyway.
I would like to think Canon let out those leaked specs though so when the real specs come out the camera is better again than what the masses will be expecting.
I'll give it a few months first to see reviews and if there are any faults that become obvious once it is selling. Otherwise i'm in.
Of course it's not out yet...speculation is part of the fun.
As a former Canon shooter for 10 years, releases like this are frustrating. The 5d3 is fantastic. I loved mine...it was truly an upgrade to the previous 5d models. But it appears that this new release is just a megapixel update to the 5d3. I dont know what good that would do any of us? I'd love for canon to drive toward new sensor technology. At this point, AF, ISO, etc are all fairly equal among camera manufacturers....but Nikon/Sony are ahead with sensor tech.
Is anyone selling wall art with wedding packages. That would be where the extra megapixels could make a difference. I remember reading a few years back where one photographer would take a medium format digital for the hero shots as that was part of his overall offering. Not sure if he stuck with the medium format or not but he felt the difference at 40x60 was noticeable.
Little or no discussion of the 50 MP camera's DR. Even at 50 MP it won't compete with Nikon's 810 for landscapers and others unless it has expanded DR.

In the release .... does state 'high dynamic range' ... We will have to wait to what this actually means.
In the Nikon world - there was always the argument that the older CCD sensors had better colours than the newer CMOS sensors but there was always talk that it was not the sensor but the CFA used in front of the sensor that changed.
The idea was that older cameras used stronger CFA to get better colour separation at the cost of high ISO - less light was getting to the sensor because of the stronger filter.
The new cameras have moved to weaker CFA to get more light to the sensor for high ISO specs but at the cost of colour accuracy.
At least that was the theory I read about and it seems to fit in with the narrative below - better colour, lower ISO rating = studio camera.

Unless I'm missing something, the physical form does not depart from a 5D3.
sensor tech, probably. Not so much high MP's, but better dynamic range and the supposedly good colours (of course we can't say anything about IQ until we've seen images). Could be an option, but if the sensor tech's any good, we will see it trickle down to a IV later this year.
