I'm not sure about that. I've had nothing but great experiences with CPS this year (and last year).
I've had 4 items in CPS in the last 6 months and service was great. New shutter on a 5D2 (190k actuations), fixed a jammed AF On button on my 5D3 (120k), new motherboard on a second 5D2 (170k), and replaced a dead AF motor in my 70-200 (4 years old). Each repair took 3-4 days from the time FedEx delivered my package to CPS and to get the items back in my hands with overnight FedEx shipping covered by CPS. Pricing was fair and consistent with the other repairs.

good to hear but the bottom line is "fair and consistent" prices
nice preview... nice colors... great cropping power. I'll study if I add 5dr to go with my 7d2. It is not just DR but also a function of the new Canon exposure system which seems to nicely control, and protect highs and lows, within its DR 12 with no banding. Moire in stills might be rare but can shift angle a tad to control with a few shots or switch cameras if one sees the cloths that could be an issue. George is retired and seems cautious on large files for high volume work. But some will take on the large file sizes and computer constraints he mentions
I think they designed the 5dR more for landscape and product and the S for shooting fabric that might cause moire. In our line of work, shooting a bunch of clothed people, I think I'd choose an S.
