I did a bunch of hemming & hawing over which 35mm to get, finally got the Nikon 1.8G. I ran around with it and tested on some landscape shots and wasn't impressed. I ended up sending it back.
Now, I look back at some of the casual people shots I got with this lens and I'm pretty sure I made a mistake. The colors are rich and just pop. It looks to be the equal of my trusty 85mm 1.8G. I use D2x mode on my D700 most of the time but they also look good in some of the VSCO filters.
So I suppose I'll be buying it again! I wonder if B&H keeps track of how many times people buy the same thing more than once.

I think you'll be happy in the end.... I compared this to the Art 35 from Sigma, and was much more impressed with the Nikkor. The Sigma didn't seem to have the same sharpness and bokeh....found this one more to my liking
I picked up a Sigma 35mm Art to compare to the Nikon 35 f/1.8 FX and returned the Sigma for inconsistent focusing. After using the Nikon 35 f/1.8, it is becoming one of my favorite lenses for my D750. In fact, I think this lens is very underrated.

totally agree... many pass it up. And I truly believe most of those people have never spent more than 30 seconds with the lens. Much like the misunderstood Nikon Df....

where are all the 35mm 1.8G owners hiding?
Looks like we lost one very active poster to the 35mm f/1.4, but I'm glad others are still sharing some pics. I'll have to find a few to paste in here as well. This is still my favorite lens.

Nice shots you've posted here. Why would you sell the lens?
yea, it's just gas.
I love the 35 1.8G FX
and the 85 1.8G
but I'll probably replace them both with 1.4 just b/c it burns a hole in my head, that there is a larger aperture out there!

I MAY keep the 35 just for a lightweight kit.
Makes perfect sense to me going for the f/1.4 glass - I think there's something to the 35 f/1.4 G and the 85 f/1.4 G that's just not there in the photos I've seen from their f/1.8 counterparts. Don't get me wrong, the f/1.8 versions take beautiful pictures, just not as beautiful as the f/1.4 ones, they somehow "pop" more to my eyes.
Purely my subjective opinion, of course, and to everyone to decide for him-/herself if they want to spend the extra $$$ for the f/1.4 versions. In the case of the 35G, I can say it's definitely worth it. I love this lens.
