...because I've been editing (or in some cases, re-editing) old images. Ahh - trying to find the time to get out and do something fun!

Anyhow, here are some images that I've done recently that I like and thought I'd share. They are totally random - no rhyme or reason, just random work.

1 First up is a gem I totally overlooked from last fall of my now 15mo old baby boy. He was 5 months old here. Look at the cute grin! I can't believe I passed this one up when I edited this shoot.

2 This is an old favorite. This was taken in May of 2010 of my now 6 year old daughter just before her 2nd birthday. She has always had these huge, expressive eyes and wispy fly away hair. She reminds me of a little pixie or fairy. I LOVE this image of her, but my original edit left a lot to be desired. There was no tonal range - just one big glowing blob. It needed to be dusted off and re-done - so here is the re-edit.

3 This is a gem I totally overlooked from one of my spring sessions. I kept going back to it when I originally edited these, but there was so much about the SOOC that bugged me that I never took on the challenge of editing it. I'll post the before and after in the comments so you can see. Anyways, always a favorite little girl to work with - Miss Jillien.

4 This is an old image from January. This is also an interesting composite. People have asked why we did not just sit him in the wagon to make life easier, but here is the reason. We tried that at first. At this time, he had NO fear of heights. He wanted to grab the little pebbles in the road and actually dove for one (Dad was spotting and saved him from a face plant in the road). From that point on, he sat directly on the ground. RE the safety issues - this is a pretty much deserted country road. We were there for an hour and one car passed. You can see for miles in either direction. I would never put my baby in danger. I hate having to put up dumb disclaimers, but someone ALWAYS has to say something.

I love the second image, those eye's just reach right out and demand the viewers attention! And the tone you topped it off with really helps set the mood. Killer shot!

You are certainly blessed with incredible conceptual vision. The PS (editing) techniques can eventually be learned by many, but very few have the imagination to see the puzzle before it's put together. I really appreciate your willingness to share the before & afters. Very inspiring.

Thank you so much! This is one that I need to get printed - it's one of my favorites of her.

yeah... I should just go ahead and sell all my gear... lol

These are of course, fantastic! Thanks for sharing them and the processing. I can't believe I'm saying this but this is one time I wish I didn't live in Sarasota because I'd love to live close enough to you to take one of your courses!

I love the first photo (actually, all of your photos are amazing!) because it reminds me of my two boys when they were little. I really miss all the soft, comfy, cute clothes we would dress them in . . . thanks for the memories!!!

And yes, that grin is absolutely adorable!

Utterly ridiculous processing

Thanks for posting the before and after. Would love a more detailed on tutorial on either photo.

I'm with Intric8 - how do you do it?! 1 and 2 are probably my favorites of the bunch but they're all pretty freaking awesome.

I hope you don’t take this too personal. These are great pics but they also show how someone can be stuck with, and rely on just using a long lense for everything. The pics look the same as your posts from 12 months ago and show very little or none diversity, there is life beyond F2. I would like to see from you real lighting skills with a 35mm or similar length. And yes many photographers would never use 35mm, but there are no rules in photography other than to use your imagination and creativity. Thank you Lisa for sharing.

Thank you for posting, Lisa!! I have to say, #2 is my favorite here (not that the other ones don't make me want to throw me gear in the attic and hang it up), probably because I have a daughter close to that age and when you catch that expression it's magic.

Even considered putting together a YouTube video of your complete workflow from start to finish on one of your pictures? (Although it may just bring down YouTube with all of the viewers.)

Thank you everyone. I have my style and this is what I like. I find it odd that these types of comments always seem to crop up from people who almost NEVER share any of their own work. Regardless, thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for your posts. I know that this isn't the first time that you've shared before and after images and that can be rare around here. There are many with strong biases toward quality images only having credibility if they look that way SOOC. This level of in depth processing isn't typically my approach (except for making heroic attempts to save something that I @#%$-ed up), but I can definitely appreciate the end result however it was arrived at.

Long focal lengths and wide apertures aren't for everyone, but these results are hard to argue with. They aren't PJ and they aren't JPEGs right out of the camera because they are something else entirely--beautiful seamless dreamscapes.
