The 7D2 appears to have finally totally fixed that (granted the 1Ds3 and 40D improved banding and then the next two generations all had much worse banding, with the very next gen among the worst ever).
I expect a super-size-me re-hash of the 70D/7DII sensor tech.
Canon can't figure out how to do their own EXMOR.
I would sure hope not. i think it would be a hard sale. This is not a 7D class cam.
skibum5, you finally made my hide list, you just continue to bash Canon no matter the topic; even for non-existent gear. You and a few others have such a hard-on for informing all how great EXMOR is, it's just getting really old and older. And that's a shame, much of your previous sharing of info has been most wonderful and truly informative/refreshing, now it's mostly just a repeat like an LP with a scratch
I remember a while back some said "and wala!", instead of "and voila!". I think it may have been Dan who corrected him, but it didn't go down too well with the guy...

Seeya, well kinda...

I wasn't bashing the 1DsX (which may not even exist)! I was just predicting that it WILL have a ton of fps, 4k video and good DR otherwise it won't make sense, who would pay 8k for it if it just had 1080p, 2007 DR, 5fps, that would be paying like $5000 just to go from 36MP to 46MP but with worse DR so I was just saying I don't believe they'd expect that to work out so I DO NOT think it will lack all those wonders.
JColwell keeps totally twisting and not comprehending what I was writing in this thread again and again so I kept trying to correct it again and again. I washing bashing the specs. We don't even know if the camera will ever even exist, but if it does, I don't think it will be just the same old 1080p, same old DR, and 5fps, I think it's got to and will have, at the least, two of those things, much better. So I was saying that I expect it would be BETTER than some here are suggesting.

Just having some fun with you, Dan .
As to the "correct" usage, I really wouldn't know. English is like my third language and I'm bad at the first two...
It is my first — and pretty much only — language, and I still find elements of it to be perplexing. ;-)

"Et voila!" (plus an accent that I'm not going to hunt for in keyboard shortcuts)
Or as spell check used to want it: "eat viola!"

Much of this will depend on what Canon is going to do with the 1D line. I'm not so sure Canon is going to drop 4K down from the 1Dc and if it's truly called the 1Ds then I doubt it will have the FPS that us sports shooters will want.
Canon was pretty adamant about unifying the 1D4 and the 1Ds3 into the 1DX. If this 1DsX rumor is true they have already back tracked on that after only one attempt. Kind of makes sense though as a true 1DX replacement could then be released ahead of the Olympics in 2016 while allowing Canon to pursue a higher MP pro body now.
It certainly would be very impressive if this rumor turns out to be the new unified 1D with 46MP at 12FPS. Digic 7 is next in line. I don't know a lot about the processors that Canon use but that seems like a lot of data to push around.
I guess all those great photographs taken 15 years ago, hanging in art studies, on people's walls, in great magazines can now all be thrown away as they will obviously become bad and useless images that have no redeemable merits or attraction.
There is no possible way anybody can ever take a great photograph with less than 44 megapixels.

A possibility, the 1DC currently has an instant savings of $2000 at various dealers bringing it's price down to 10K. Not too far off of the rumoured price of this new body.

The English language grammatical core per say (sic) is simple enough, it is the bewildering multitude of exceptions, idioms, neologisms, colloquialisms, loan words from other tongues and god knows what not, which make it exceedingly complex. Thus, we all feel and even look perplexed while we speak English. One can try to counter that effect by talking fast and/or mumbling, however, that exposes us to a risk of appearing silly.
Truly, not much grammar policing is happening on the forum these days, because the principal Monito(rs) are sadly absent.

I agree. A high MP 1D with a real internal crop would be sweet. Let's hope they up the FPS though. 5 is too low. 8 would be better at FF. We need a higher flash sync speed too.
Unfortunately, I remember reading the in camera crop is patented by N***n. I don't know how such a simple concept can be patented, but I read it and figured I'd just continue to keep doing the old way, in photo mechanic.

Man that seems hard to believe. If so, it's just one more piece of evidence of how utterly broken the patent system is though, that would be utterly insane to allow that to be patented. It would also be ironic since Nikon was last to the FF DSLR game too.
well for one thing it doesn't need 4k video no matter how hard you cry, also DR isn't the all and be all of modern sensors this just seems like a issue to complain about is 11-13 stops enough @ 42-46 mp full frame?,cant you shoot + 1/3 ec and bring up shadows in post if need be,surly its better than a EOS D30...7-10 fps is good enough,GPS/WIFI are fine in a PRO body, price it under 7k and canon will still sell loads of this.
Wait, I thought the various Canon forums on the internet had established some time ago that more megapixels aren't necessary, Canon cameras have more than enough already, it's too much of a hassle to use good shooting technique to take advantage of more megapixels anyway, and the difference is hardly noticeable.
(P.S. I really think these forums need a "tongue in cheek" emoticon.)

46mp is going to be like trying to push an entire album worth of mp3s PER PHOTO onto a CF card at higher ISOs. That would be incredible! I suppose the CFast standard might be able to handle that, as well as some of these 1066x cards assuming that your buffer and pipeline are have enough throughput but 12 per SECOND would probably end up being somewhere in the neighborhood of a half a gigabyte per second. That would be pretty awesome. And probably end up creating a lot of heat that might actually end up being the largest problem as that is part of the reason the 1Dc exists over the 1Dx (at least ostensibly, Canon PR bullsh** and such).
I just have a feeling that Canon might have to split the 1D line into a sports line using 20-something megapixel files and a high resolution line shooting 46+. The journalists and sports guys probably prefer to keep the files at least somewhat small in order to sort a few thousand of them faster (I know I would after shooting a 10 hour day).
I am just super pumped that Canon may have a card up its sleeve that we haven't heard about yet when it comes to sensor tech. Mostly so my inner teenager can stick my nose up in a year when the tech has trickled down the 5D at the Sony and Nikon guys who have bemoaned Canon's lack of innovation in the DR area for the last few years. I know it is immature, but it would still feel great. Admit it.
I'll continue to suffer with my inferior gearz, let you cutting edge junkies discover the soon to be discovered. Learn from your experiences, expand my knowledge base, then purchase a refurb once the bugs be gone
As for 'Ski' all is well, input greatly appreciated, unhidden you now be!
In parting, whatever Canon brings to our future tables, I hope it kicks butt 'on every street', oh wait that's a Dire Straights album/song

The danged language has two primary roots, which is why we have hard-sounding words like "stench" and "stink" (from the northern Europeans) and soft-sounding words like "fragrance" and "odor" (from French) for roughly the same things. Then American English (a funny label... "Amglish?" Engrican?") picked up more words and expressions from pretty much all of the people who ended up living together here.
As a teacher (but not of English) I see every day the perplexed looks on the faces of students trying to figure out why we say "the boy runs" and "the boys run," why people go "to school" but "to the hospital," or why you, glue, through, flu, and chew all have the same ending. ;-)
By the way, if and when this mythical camera appears, I can predict some of the following forum topics:
- Two-face Canon shooters used to claim 22MP was enough but now demand 46MP!
- I found banding in my 46MP Canon file! Yay!
- No one needs 46MP!
- The cost of file storage makes this impractical! We'll all have to buy new computers!
- Increasing MP count will reduce DR and create too much noise!
- I'll wait until the 75MP version comes out in 4 years!
- They can make a 46MP sensor but they can't get rid of the direct print button!
- The 22MP sensor camera had a more film like image quality.
