FM member Psychic1 stated he didn't have any sources or connection to Canon from the get-go. He was upfront about this being only a "prediction".
What would make you believe that this is a fact unless you are a true believer in psychic predictions? That is why I never locked the thread and I let it go on.
In my opinion, rumors should be looked at as entertainment and should be taken lightly.
"Professional" rumor sites even linked back to this thread and we all had a good laugh dreaming and hoping for the new camera just in case Psychic1 was right by luck... That just goes to show how this works.
Let me know if you guys really want me to lock this thread. Ultimately this is your community.

Fred, if I were you, one reason I'd lock this thread for is to show that I do not approve of "extrasensory or psychic predictions" receiving serious and central consideration on my forum. If you condone such "psychic affairs" (viz. pranks) topics routinely, I believe many people may start to feel we are a bunch of quacks and juvenile dreamers, and not a serious and sober photography crowd. My two Rupees.
From the Great State of Texas: I'm a proponent of free speech and the right to carry. Includes rumors, predictions, nonsense, forum entertainment and guns. Did Frank do bodily harm or verbally abuse any members by his prediction? Not that I can tell. Do I think he's a nut? That said....I plead the fifth amendment.......<G>

Fred, I think that this thread has more than outlived whatever value (entertainment?) it had, and locking it wouldn't be a bad idea at all. It would continue to stand here in its current form. It is difficult to imagine what useful purpose it would have to continue the discussion of a psychic hallucination beyond the current pages.
Unfortunately, in the eyes of some out there in the larger photography world, this [rumor/fantasy/joke?] had its source at FM, and while we can perhaps regard it as being a joke here, once it got out of here and ended up being the (weak) source of rumors reported elsewhere, those folks on the outside of FM will tend to associate the circumstances not with dear psychic1 but with FM itself.
