My Emma - at age 7 - as beautiful as I believe all dogs are, there is a special place in my heart for Golden's, and, for Emma especially, for all she did for me.

Emma sure is a beauty! I love her white face I'm sure you miss her tremendously.
My first golden passed away when he was 13years and 3 months. He too had the sweet white face.....

Excellent work, OffTrail. What beautifully eager look he has a "bead" on. And with all due praise for your capturing the shot on film!!!!
Much appreciated! It's mostly the subject doing all the work, though lol. He knows that all he has to do is be reasonably still until he hears a "click," and then he gets whatever I'm holding.
And both of you guys had some beautiful Goldens! The ones I've met have been some of the most confident and trusting dogs that I've ever been around. They just seem to like you, whether or not they know you.
But this is Cooper. This was Cooper. We had to put him down Friday evening. Just 72 hours and 30 minutes ago he took his last breath. Only 5, Cooper was the first dog that ever worked his way into my heart, and he will always be there, though now it is so very heavy.
He was an absolute hoot! A 90 pound lap dog, who lived for fun and joy and happiness, and shared that with all who were lucky enough to give a scratch, or toss a toy, or just hang out with him. He would just make you laugh, you couldn't help it.
He had cancer. A tumor in his chest. And at the ripe age of 5, we had to put him down. This photo was taken a few hours before we did that. My eldest daughter could not be there, just too hard. But my wife and younger daughter were on the floor with Cooper when he left us.
Sorry, but I am just truly and deeply sad. Never thought I would feel this way, but he got to me.
Stedge, he is beautiful. These pups have a way of coming in and turning our insides upside down with love. We are better for having them come in, fix us, set us on the path we are to travel, and then leaving only when their job is done. They never leave though, do they? Continue to hold him close. So happy you captured this moment, then settled in to be with him those last moments. Best to you. Thank you for sharing.
My heart goes out to you and your family. It is always so painful and sorrowful to have to put your loving pet down. Try to remember all the good memories that you've shared with him and let his love for you live in your hearts forever.
Sorry for your loss Eric, 5 is definitely too young to lose a beloved pet. Amazing how they seem to worm their way into your heart. Hopefully someday when you're all ready, another will worm their way in, as well.

Thanks for your kind words, all. I am certain we will have more boxers. He was just one pretty great guy. They each have their personalities, and Cooper was simply a joy.

Stedge,
I know your horrible pain. I'm on my third boxer, I LOVE the breed. I was there when my first two passed in my arms. Gut wrenching. Yes they all have their own personalities, so far I have adored all three of mine. Nothing helps heal like a puppy. I wish you and your family all the comfort now. I bet you have a lot more love to give.
Edit: My third boxer Vinnie. He's a sealed brindle with flash.
