Fantastic pics, Lance and Kristina (via Buddy). Watching a dog run always brings a smile to my face. Well, assuming that the dog is not running away.
My mutt also has all four feet off the ground at full extension and when her feet are tucked under. Red Dog can’t keep up with a greyhound – although I have seen her try gamely - but she definitely gets airborne twice per running stroke. Some older examples:
Red Dog also mixes in springbok-like bounds when she runs. One of my minor photographic goals is to catch her in mid-bound with something nearby to gauge her height. Still working on that, but this is the closest so far.

Very nice pictures Bruce. I guess all dogs running at speed, or at least the ones doing it right, will be airborn in the same two phases. Nature has proven that any 4 legged mammal with a similar physiology as a cheetah, not running like a cheetah, is not doing it right. Proof is that the cjeetah is pretty darn fast in doing things the way it does.
Reminds me of my sister's dog when we were growing up Will! He (Sam) was a quarter fox and would play "ball" (fetch) 'til he dropped.

Love that first shot , I almost adopted a greyhound once when I worked at the horse track, we had a dog track close by and they asked us if we wanted to adopt some old race dogs.
I love watching them run, sometimes my catahoula cur runs similar but not as high off the ground as greyhounds do.
Going back down memory lane, This is a scan of my sister's dog Sam ("Bobo, or Bobie").
He was black, tan, and white. Sammy's mom was a half breed / red fox so he was 1/4 fox. He never saw a ball he would not retrieve and would continue playing ball until he dropped.
