Well, the sun finally came out for just a little bit today, in I don't even remember for how long... so Bene and I decided to snap a few pic's outside. It was quite cold, so I didn't bother with a tripod. All handheld with the Nikon Df and 200f2VRII.

Don Beautiful dog. Very nice photographs of him.

Stefan, you caught some wonderful expressions on Venus. Very nice!
I found a batch of pictures that I never uploaded from a street festival last summer. These were taken with the 70-200/4, and included a few dog pictures. The dog in the fountain was a very nice dog, but not one of ours.
Thanks. She gets so serious when she is modeling so it is not everyday you get a little smile for the camera haha...
The dog in your first photo would be banned here in Iceland due to he is probably mixed/pure pit bull. I love Pugs, they are so expressive. Btw. here in Iceland the laws bans any dogs from being on a street festival or where you can expect large crowd of people in organised event. We are so far behind in Iceland.

Thanks for looking
Don
Beautiful captures Don. Didn't know you owned a Chubby
But why did you consider a tripod at all? We (Kristina and I) own one tripod which hardly sees any use because (our?) dogs are far too agile to even set up a tripod before they are long gone.
Maybe we could use the tripod to immobilize Lumi and Amy
Yesterday we took Lumi out for a hike. With child, taking both dogs can be a bit much at times, so we take Lumi one day, Amy the next

Thank you Buddy for the nice comments! Yes, the Chubby is one of only two autofocus lenses that I own... the other being the Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 All of my other lenses are manual focus, being Zeiss and classic Nikons
More times than not, I go out without my tripod... but sometimes when shooting my Golden Retriever I like to kneel down to get the shot at the angle I want. Unfortunately, I have two very bad knees and it can be very painful for me to do that. Coupling the pain with the heft of the chub, it can be difficult at times for me to hold it steady. So using the tripod can alleviate that prospect.
Fantastic series of Lumi! I always enjoy seeing your hiking adventures. I agree with you... I trust my manual focus much more than that of most autofocus lenses. I will say though that the Chub has very fast and pretty accurate AF
Yes, pre focus and wait for the shot to happen mostly. Some focus tracking works, if the movement is predictable enough, but all in all I prefer these limits over the erratic results AF gives me
Yesterday we took Amy out to a location that is new to us
