I have the Nikon 300mm f2.8G VT I I and I like it very much. I have the 1.4x I I and the 2.0x I I I and they both work very well with that lens. The 300mm has a lot of vesatility when used that way. Your not stuck with a long lens. Enjoy!

great thread everyone hopefully I will contribute soon.
I just sold my 500mm f4 vr, and went back to a 300mm 2.8 vr. I had a 300mm af-s II lens before and always loved it.
I have been hand holding the 500mm vr a lot, and that helps make the 300mm much lighter. I have been looking at the bushhawk and have a few questions for anyone who has and uses one.
I saw it has a trigger, and I assume with the correct cable(Nikon one on their website works with a d7100) you can control the shutter release. I am a AF-ON shooter but I guess it wouldn't be too hard to still have a hand on the camera to activate the AF-ON button for focus and use the bushhawk trigger for the shutter, I always found the shutter on the camera to induce more shake than the AF-ON button anyways, as I will usually have that depressed on and off at different intervals as the shutter.
anyways. I plan to buy the tc1.4e iii and or possibly the tc20e iii - as I previously had the tc20e iii with my af-s ii 300mm 2.8 about 2 years ago and it did decently I just found focus to be somewhat hit and miss, but I would be willing to give it another go round....Show more →
Was up in TN a couple of weeks ago and made it too a Titan's practice. Brought my newest lens out to give it a try. Looking forward to taking some great shots with this lens. Shot on a monopod with my D700.
Not sure what happened to the first photo and reposted it. Tried to delete, but still learning this site. lol
Hope to get some local high school football posted soon. Think I will hook up the 1.7 TC and see how it does with this lens.

Beautiful, beautiful stuff Hardcore. You know sometimes I think about what are we gonna do once our kids grow up??
Thanks! I know exactly what you mean Joseph. Hopefully when the kids are grown up, we start getting grandchildren. Time flies so it's a scary thought I might blink and my kids will be grown up. Gotta try and slow this time machine down!
Went out this morning a took a few shots at Thunder Cross here in Okeechobee, FL. Still working on getting use to this lens. Took these with my D7000, manual mode and most at 1600 SS.
