Love it! I'm using mine more and more for portraits and really love it. Just too bad you need a megaphone to talk to your clients.

I almost exclusively use my 300/2.8 VR1 + a BusHawk stock mount, 90% of time with TCs (mainly the TC20EIII) stalking for birds. Some samples:

D7100 + Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 AF-S G VR + TC20EIII (= 600mm f/5.6 AF) + BusHawk stock mount, ISO 560, f/8 at 1/320s VR on; ~15% cropped.

Taken at an ecological preserve - Esta��o Ecol�gica de Itirapina, southeast Brazil.
I was "hunting" birds with an effective 900mm lens (FX equivalent) and had no choice but portraits when this guy approached within less than 9m!

Tack sharp photos Jose as usual. I have taken my 300mm f2.8 couple of times for bird photos. Here is one of my fav shots using the AF-n version.

I miss my old 300 f2.8, it was the VR1 version but it was my favorite lens I had at the time. here's some shots with it. some with 1.7x, some bare lens.
