Have one due for delivery on Monday, so if you will send me your test targets, I'll use them to take a few similar shots to check for consistency (and then to help pay off my credit card).

Click the link, under each photo it will tell you the camera and lens combo. To see exact exif info, click the "i" when you hover over the image. To see the original full res image, hover over the image and click original.
Clearly indicate the Tamron does better at f11 then it does at f8 and much better then f6.3. It even does better stopped down further, of course at a cost of lighting.

Thanks for posting.

How did I know that would happen, that is the money 'I saved' on this lens
Waiting for next stage of testing..........just needed a bit of foundation to build upon.
you won't be disappointed

For the length and cost it holds well compared to:
Nikon D5200 + 50-500mm OS (very sharp copy, compared well to the 120-300mm sport + 2x DG)
Nikon D800e + Sigma 500mm + Kenko 1.4x (very sharp copy, as sharp as the Nikon 500mm VR I sold after I bought the Sigma)
Considering that the 7D is the weakest camera from the three and most people say that it is much better on the 70D and the 5DIII, I have great expectations with those cameras and the Nikon sensors (when the Nikon version is released).
The stabilization is good and the AF is fast and locks easily even in the terrible light we have todau
Overall very happy for the price and even considering getting a 70D to play with it until the Nikon version is released.

An odd question, and not necessarily something I'd want to do, but does it work with a teleconverter (1.4X), autofocus and image quality-wise?
appreciate all the test images.
I asked the same question to Tamron directly, they actually do not recommend the use of TC on any of their digital camera lenses I was informed by a tech.
FYI the Canon 1.4 IITC will not fit this lens.

Basically a bad idea on a zoom lens of this quality that starts at f5.
The alarm is around 45 meters from my house
All are approximately 100% crops
The 1DS3 shot had to be upscaled to match the other two
The Tamron was downsized slightly (10%)
Comparison of:
D800e and Nikon 600mm VR at f4
Canon 1DS3 and 500mm f4 IS MK1 at f4
7D and Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm f7.1
@ micloi,
thanks for adding to this thread.
The Tamron and 7D look surpassingly good considering that you were using the 7D @ iso 500 & handheld @ 1/100.
What is equally surprising is that the 1Ds seemed to produce more detail than the D800. If it's not detail, then the lens just seems to be a hair sharper than the 600 f4.
With the introduction of the Tamron and Nikon's 80-400 AFS VR, I am wondering if Canon is going to finally update the 100-400IS. It's had a great run, but unlike the 400mm f5.6L, it does not seem to be a great match for the resolution of their high pixel density cameras any longer.
